Coronavirus Updates and Resources
From Monday 7 December 2020:
- Up to 100 people can gather outdoors in a public space (currently 50)
- Up to 3,000 people can gather for community sport (subject to the 2 square metre rule).
An updated COVID-19 SLS Activity Matrix, updated COVID-19 Safety Plans and updated COVID-19 Information Packs for Lifesaving, Junior Activities and Sport (and Summary of Changes) will be uploaded to the SLSNSW website to reflect this on 7 December.
Also from Monday 7 December 2020:
- All hospitality venues will be allowed to have one person per two square metres indoors (except for gyms where the one person per four square metre rule still applies, with a maximum of 50 people per gym classes).
- Dance floors will be permitted for up to 50 people indoors.
- Maximum capacity gaps for the following will be removed, subject to the two square metre rule:
- Bookings at hospitality venues
- Weddings
- Funerals
- Corporate events.
Clubs are advised to update their COVID-19 Safety Plans to reflect these new requirements.

Nippers Heroes in Mass Rescue
A group of surf lifesavers from The Lakes Surf Life Saving Club, including four members of a school-based Nippers training program, recently saved a large group of people caught in a rip at Soldiers Beach on the NSW Central Coast.

First Day of Summer Declared National Water Safety Day
The Australian Government has thrown their support behind peak water safety bodies to declare the first day of summer, December 1, National Water Safety Day, in a bid to encourage all Australians to make water safety a priority.

Club Lifesaving Equipment Grants Reimbursement - Open Now!
Club Lifesaving Equipment Grant reimbursements are now open for clubs who have paid all their supplier invoices relating to goods ordered through the Club Lifesaving Equipment Grant (CLEG).
Please email Laura Schuetz copies of paid invoices, along with copy of proof of payment/remittance advices, and a club invoice made out to Surf Life Saving NSW for the full voucher amount. Once received we can commence reimbursement.
ClubsNSW Clubs & Community Awards - Submissions Open Until 22 January 2021
The Clubs & Community Awards are an opportunity to share the stories, celebrate them and recognise the outstanding contributions made by clubs. Encompassing all activities and initiatives from March 2019 to December 2020 (all stories submitted in the postponed year will be rolled over into the 2021 program).

Grants & Fundraising
Grant funding is an ideal way to obtain equipment, infrastructure or program funding for your club. In support of SLSCs in NSW, SLSNSW provides a professional grant service at no fee to NSW SLSCs through Surf Life Saving Foundation’s Grant Seeking Unit (GSU). The GSU is a national grant research and writing support unit for SLS entities across Australia.
