Click here Friday 20 April 2018 SLSNSW State Conference 28 - 29 July 2018Surf Life Saving NSW is excited to announce that registrations are open for the 2018 State Conference! This will be held in Sydney on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 July 2018 at the Novotel Brighton Beach, Brighton-Le-Sands. The conference will be centred around communicating SLSNSW's strategic direction for 2018-20, and will cover topics such as safeguarding children, mental health, critical incident support, community engagement, leadership and culture, recruitment and retention, communication and inclusion. The conference is aimed at those holding key roles in Surf Life Saving Clubs, including Club Presidents, Club Captains, Member Services Officers, Chief Training Officers, Volunteer Coordinators, Junior Activity Chairpersons, Member Protection Information Officers and/or members who are emerging leaders within the Club. Please confirm your attendance at this conference with your club prior to submitting your online registration or making any travel arrangements or bookings. Clubs will be able to request additional spaces at the conference (in addition to the three fully subsidised places per club) by contacting Tiffany Chapman, tchapman@surflifesaving.com.au. A frequently asked questions (FAQ’s) document for the conference is also available to assist with logistical information for attendees. Lifesavers Urging Holiday CautionWith the NSW School Holidays officially getting underway this week, surf lifesavers are encouraging the public to be beach-aware as they look to make the most of the last remnants of sunshine before winter well and truly sets in. SLSA Exchange Program - Japan 2018SLSA is calling for nominations for the opportunity to do a volunteer lifesaver exchange program in Onjuku Japan from 13 July – 8 August 2018. This is a volunteer program, however flights, transfers, accommodation, and food will be provided to the successful applicants. SLSA will provide insurance for the 4 travelers. To be eligible applicants will need to be 20 years and older at the time of travel, and hold a current passport. SLSA Patrol Operations AppThe SLSA Patrol Operations App is a tool to for paperless patrol management in Surf Clubs across Australia. The app allows clubs to record patrol hour attendance and statistics electronically and then directly adds the data into SurfGuard without the need for any paper logs. Emergency Management Volunteer ScholarshipsVolunteers from emergency management agencies are encouraged to apply for the next round of scholarships. The Australian Institute for Disaster Resilience is administering scholarships on behalf of the Australian Government for emergency management volunteers to undertake accredited emergency management vocational or higher education. The scholarships are open to Australian citizens or permanent residents who are volunteers in an emergency management agency. This is your chance to secure up to $12,000 towards your vocational training or up to $25,000 for higher education.
