To celebrate our growing health innovation community, our next Health Innovators’ Meetup is an informal picnic under the Prairie sky! Join us on July 14, Thursday during lunch at Hawrelak Park Site 2 for a fun gathering of entrepreneurs, innovators, students, service providers, employees and health innovation enthusiasts. Spots are limited, so please register and RSVP to reserve your spot. As Scott, CEO at Tricca Technologies and this week’s Meet Our Community member, mentions, he is most excited about “Summer! Both for some nicer weather, but we also have some exciting new projects happening then”. We can’t wait to learn more about the new projects that Tricca is working on. We are also looking for volunteers to help us with the Meetup, so, if you are looking for a way to serve the community and be more involved with the Health Innovation Hub, we want to hear from you. Just send us an email at healthub@ualberta.ca and let us know your interest in volunteering. In our last digest, we informed you about a partnership with Applied Pharmaceutical Innovation. While we continue to transition and integrate the Health Innovation Hub’s services within API’s portfolio, there will be some changes to our branding, including the look and feel of the digest. Throughout this exciting transition, we will continue to provide quality service to you and support you to drive health innovation forward. We thank you for your continued support. Something becomes an innovation in health when it can be utilized to directly help people, before that, it's just ideas. 2. In your opinion, what is the state of the health innovation ecosystem in Alberta, Canada and globally? There are a lot of great pieces in place and more support for innovation here than in a lot of other places, between the Universities, funding opportunities, and resources for new companies. There just needs to be better systems for connecting them together. Better communication at all levels could make a huge impact. 3. What motivated you to join the Health Innovation Hub?We were approached directly after we participated in a pitch competition (when we were just starting off as a company). We saw it as a great opportunity to get into the community.4.
