Nominations for the General Practice Advisory Committee
Cancer Council WA’s General Practice Education project provides cancer education tailored to health professionals working in general practice. To continue our commitment to providing relevant and topical education through a variety of platforms, we are currently seeking general practice representation. We invite General Practitioners, Practice Nurses, and other health professionals working in the general practice setting to consider nominating for the GP Advisory Committee.
The committee meets four times per year (either in person at CCWA’s Subiaco office or via teleconference for your convenience). Correspondence between meetings is via email. If you have a special interest in cancer, and would like to be involved in providing input into future general practice cancer education in WA, we welcome your nomination.
To obtain a copy of the Terms of Reference or to register your interest, please email gp@cancerwa.asn.au
GP and COVID-19 impact survey results
In response to anecdotal evidence that the COVID-19 pandemic was greatly affecting General Practice both in terms of attendance and activity. The CCWA General Practice Education team undertook a survey of our membership to determine the impact (if any) of COVID-19 on General Practice. Thank you to all of you who participated in the survey. The summary of results is as follows.
Support patients to quit for COVID-19
Growing evidence shows that people who smoke may be at higher risk of severe complications from COVID-19. Cancer Council WA joins the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee in encouraging West Australians to quit smoking to reduce their risk of COVID-19 complications.
