September updates No images? Click here My Fellow Arrowmen, As we move into the Fall, it comes time to welcome our newest candidates into our order as brothers! There are 122 candidates that were called out to complete their ordeal at summer camp this year, and we are ready to Build our Brotherhood by welcoming these scouts and scouters through the induction process. Brothers, I want to challenge you all with a quote from one of our founders, E. Urner Goodman: “He who serves his fellows is, of all his fellows, greatest”. I encourage all of you to serve with us this season at our upcoming inductions; serving as elangomats, staff, and support. Help our lodge to welcome these new Arrowmen! WWW, Anthony J. Mills Lodge Chief Our Induction Weekends are scheduled for September 10-11 at Woodfield Scout Reservation and October 1-2 at Cherokee Scout Reservation. We need your service to make these weekends memorable for everyone involved. One way you can help is is by serving as an Elangomat. In the language of the Lenni Lenape, Elangomat means “friend,” which is what an Elangomat is. Elangomats are the friends who guide new candidates through their ordeal. There are many perks to being an Elangomat, including:

Hagan Sea Base Workday RecapWow ! What a great turnout for the Hagan Sea Base workday on August 28th. We had 46 OA brothers and 17 non-OA members come out for the day. Multiple projects were completed including updating the dock, splitting wood, and many other projects - some of which have been put off for years. Thank you to all who volunteered and helped. The lodge could not do without the Cheerful Service of all of Brothers who volunteered. Special thanks to Aidan Treier, Craig Hendrix, and David Swicegood for coordinating and leading the workday. National Leadership Seminar (NLS)Developing Youth Leadership Conference (DYLC)December 10-21, 2021 - Greensboro, NC - Embassy SuitesWhat is the National Leadership Seminar? The National Leadership Seminar (NLS) is a weekend conference focused on the skills and attributes of leadership. The program enhances the leadership skills of the Order of the Arrow's key youth and adult members as they seek to improve their services to the Boy Scouts of America and the greater community. The weekend format complements the longer, more detailed Junior Leadership Training program (for youth) and Wood Badge program (for adults). During the seminar, participants make a contract with themselves to apply the skills learned on projects in the lodge, council, and community. NLS prepares Arrowmen to become better leaders both within and outside of the Scouting program. What is the Developing Youth Leadership Conference? The Developing Youth Leadership Conference will deepen an adviser’s capacity to develop youth leadership within the lodge and chapter. Conference topics will include fostering a growth mindset, promoting resilience, providing constructive feedback that leads to changes in youth behavior and creating a life-long coaching/mentoring relationship. Conference participants will gain insights necessary to successfully coach youth applying the leadership skills they gained during the National Leadership Seminar. Who should attend? Every Arrowman will benefit in some way from attending NLS. Youth participants should be at least 15 years of age or a lodge officer. Completion of a Lodge Leadership Development (LLD) course is desirable. The seminar is an intensive experience in learning about the nature of leadership and practicing some of the skills that a leader uses. While fun, the course challenges participants mentally as well. Participants should be developmentally, physically, and mentally prepared to engage actively in an exhausting, invigorating weekend. If you are interested in attending an NLS or DYLC, please contact our Lodge Chief or Adviser for registration information. Registration ends on November 26. More4 details can be found https://southern.oa-bsa.org/nls/ Registration is open until November 2. https://scoutingevent.com/070-dylchttps://scoutingevent.com/070-nls
