WHAT'S HAPPENING AROUND THE CITYSchool HolidaysRegistrations for Active Parramatta’s Spring School Holiday program are now open. The program will feature a fun range of online activities for the whole family to enjoy and keep active! Tennis FacilitiesA number of tennis facilities across the LGA can now be booked online. These facilities provide the opportunity to play tennis on hardcourts or synthetic grass. Under current restrictions, access to flood lighting also provides the opportunity to exercise at night. Please check into venues via QR code and comply with Public Health Orders. Over 55s Leisure & Learning ServiceEnjoy an extensive range of exciting and enjoyable physical, recreational and social activities throughout the year. The activities that will be on offer for Term 4, will be based on the current COVID-19 restrictions and NSW Health advice. Arthur Phillip Park MasterplanThe masterplan considers the important roles that the park plays to provide a better park experience for all. Binalong Park MasterplanThis high-level 'vision' provides a blueprint, identifying opportunities to improve the layout of facilities, review existing amenities and plan for future recreational requirements. Thank you to those who provided a total of 802 responses across 3 rounds of community consultation. Healthy@Home ToolkitWestern Sydney Local Health District is supporting residents with health and wellbeing tips through a shareable toolkit. It includes practical tips about eating well, being active, connectedness and mental wellbeing that can be shared amongst individuals, communities and organisations. Some tips are offered in Arabic, Turkish, Dari, Persian, Korean, Vietnamese and simplified Chinese. Heart of Play MasterplanThe masterplan will guide the upgrades and renewals of several North Parramatta open spaces over the next 20 years to deliver a welcoming, accessible, green, active and connected recreation network. Thank you to everyone who shaped the masterplan over the course of two community engagement periods. PlayConnect Playgroups Family ToolkitPlayConnect is a free, safe and supported playgroup program for children on the Autism Spectrum, or with developmental delays or behavioural concerns, and their families. The PlayConnect Toolkit contains free online resources, activities and tip sheets focusing on supporting children on the spectrum or with similar concerns. COMMUNITY CENTRE SPOTLIGHTErmington Community Centre: 6 River Road, ErmingtonLocated next to Ermington Library, the Ermington Community Centre features a large main hall and meeting room. It is the perfect venue for family celebrations, community events, recreation programs and general meetings. The Centre is located on a quiet street just off Victoria Road, and has a large onsite carpark as well as ample on-street parking. Please note, all community facilities in the City of Parramatta are currently closed due to the current stay-at-home orders, although enquires can still be made for functions taking place once restrictions ease. The draft SSAP will incorporate an action plan to address focus areas that guide the development of the City’s sportsground network over the next 20 years. Submit your feedback before Wednesday 13 October 2021. Have Your Say on Sturt ParkCity of Parramatta is upgrading Sturt and Acacia Parks in Telopea, under the NSW State Government's Precinct Support Scheme. Before construction starts, regular users are encouraged to evaluate the extent to which we are making our parks and open spaces great places for people. GRANT PROGRAMSGrants for Participating in Sporting CompetitionsDid you know that you can receive financial assistance for competing in state, national or international sporting championships as competitors, coaches or officials? City of Parramatta's Representative Sports Grant provides up to $1000 for residents of the Parramatta Local Government Area (LGA). For those who don't live in the Parramatta LGA, Sport Australia's Local Sporting Champions provides up to $750 for participants aged 12-18. Sport & Recreation GrantUp to $2000 is available from City of Parramatta's Sport & Recreation Grants for projects that increase participation in local sport and recreation activities.
