The global Food Security Cluster organised a Cluster Coordinator and Information on Management Officer Retreat in Nairobi, from 2-5 October, for the West Africa and Asia and Pacific Region. The objective of the retreat was to facilitate information on-sharing and discussing best practices among different clusters/sectors in the region.
A global Partners’ Meeting was organised from 14/16 November at FAO in Rome. Around 60 focal points from different organizations participated in the meeting. The global Coordinator of the gFSC, Bruno Minjauw presented an updated overview on current global coordination, achievements and funding for 2018. Amongst the several topics discussed, was the election of two new members of the SAG, the Mid-Term Review and the accomplishments of the Working Groups (WG).
The first Information Management training in French was organised in Dakar from 27-30 November. A total of 18 participants attended the training that was mainly focused on building the skills of future Information Management Officers (IMO) and reinforcing the roster of ready-to-deploy staff with a pool of francophone potential candidates. The training enhanced participants understanding of the roles and responsibilities of an IMO before, during and after a Level 3 emergency, through theoretical sessions and practical exercises.
