Ōtāhuhu Town Centre Transformation - Construction Update - Issue 9 - 24 April 2020 CONSTRUCTION PROGRESS24 April 2020 Important Note: Advisable Route for Heavy HaulagePlease note: there is no left-hand turn from Princes Street into Great South Road for heavy haulage vehicles. The advisable route for heavy vehicles heading to/from Salesyard Road and Walmsley Road, is via Atkinson Road and Portage Road. ALERT LEVEL 3 UPDATEAs you are aware, the Ōtāhuhu Town Centre Transformation project has been safely closed for the duration of Alert Level 4. During this time, our project management team have been working from home, planning for when works can resume. As announced by the New Zealand Government, Alert Level 4 will be lifted on Monday 27 April at 11:59pm. Under Alert Level 3, construction operations are able to recommence, meaning our project will resume Tuesday 28 April 2020. This provides us with a great opportunity to undertake construction works while traffic volumes are low and the majority of businesses are closed. We would like to assure you that our teams will be following strict health, safety and physical distancing guidelines to ensure the safety of our team and the community. GREAT SOUTH ROAD Huia Road Works on the corner of Huia Road and Great South Road will resume to complete the installation of new underground drainage pipes. In early May, this team will move adjacent to the business block at 225 Great South Road to start underground works. Pedestrian and vehicle access to this carpark will be maintained around our work site. Princes Street intersection to Station Road Works between Ings Asian Food Warehouse towards Station Road will resume with the team constructing the new kerb, channel and footpath where the drainage upgrade is complete. We will work with businesses to ensure open business hours are accommodated for footpath reconstruction. Princes Street to Gordon Road Works between Princes Street and Gordon Road will resume with the team constructing the new kerb and channel. When kerb and channel works in this area are complete, the team will begin works to reconstruct the existing footpath. We will work with businesses to ensure open business hours are accommodated. STATION ROAD Speed Tables Works to construct speed-tables across Station Road (one next to the Ōtāhuhu Primary School and one at the intersection of Great South Road) will commence from Tuesday 28 April 2020. To avoid a full road closure of Station Road, we plan to undertake these works in halves. This means between Moa Street and Great South Road, Station Road will become one-way only for vehicles travelling east towards Great South Road, for approximately 6 weeks while we build the speed-tables. The construction of the both speed-tables will occur concurrently to minimise the disruption to the vehicle users of Station Road. Moa StreetWorks at the intersection of Moa Street and Station Road will commence to upgrade a stormwater connection across Moa Street and to complete new kerb buildouts. To undertake this work, one lane of Moa Street intersection will be temporarily closed. Vehicles will be able to exit Moa Street into Station Road, but unavailable for vehicles entering from Station Road. Marjorie Jayne CrescentWorks to adjust kerb buildouts and complete a stormwater connection at the intersection of Marjorie Jayne Crescent and Station Road is expected to commence in mid May. To reconstruct the kerb buildouts, one lane at the intersection of Marjorie Jayne Crescent will be closed. Vehicles will be able to enter Marjorie Jayne Crescent from Station Road but will only be able to exit onto Walmsley Road. The intersection will be managed via a stop/go by traffic controllers to allow oversized vehicle to exit Marjorie Jayne Crescent onto Station Road when required. Outside working hours, both lanes at the intersection will be available. The stormwater connection requires the closure of Marjorie Jayne Crescent at Station Road for up to 3 days. The timeframe for these works are still be planned and an update will be provided. TRAFFIC MANAGEMENTChanges to road layoutTraffic management regulations require significant temporary changes to the traffic layout of Great South Road and Station Road, for the upgrade works to take place in a safe manner. Great South Road:
