No Images? Click here Dear friend of PLC 2017 – what an amazing whirlwind of a year! It’s quite overwhelming to look back on this School year and remember all of the special moments and people, and the fun we’ve had together. What I remember most fondly about this year is the enthusiasm amongst the staff, the students, particularly our 2017 Leavers, and the whole PLC community. Last Friday, as I looked over the library balcony down into the Quad and saw Alia Golestani and Mr Kelly setting up the Christmas talent show, hurriedly putting a drum kit into the correct positon and preparing for yet another wonderful PLC tradition, I thought – this is what the PLC community is all about – opportunity, inclusivity and great traditions. My hope is that these elements dominate 2018, particularly the element of inclusivity – each of us reaching out beyond our immediate friendship group or Year group, making 2018 a year to remember. I would like to thank all the teachers and staff for their incredible efforts this year. I know I speak for all students in thanking each of you for giving your guidance, support and knowledge, and for sometimes just being that friendly face around the School that lifts your day. Enjoy the summer holidays, which at the moment, stretch out before us like a shiny gift! It’s been a really busy year and everyone in the PLC community deserves a well-earned rest. Enjoy Christmas, however you choose to celebrate it, enjoy time with your family and friends, enjoy the weather and the beach, and most importantly, enjoy yourselves. Happy holidays everyone – I am so excited to see you all in 2018 for a fabulous new year. - Eliza Donaldson, 2018 Head Prefect Tuesday 5 DecemberJunior School End of Year Assembly, 6.00 pm - 7.00 pm, Junior School Swim & Recreation Centre. The PLC Lighthouse website is one element we have been working on that will be launching in December. Once launched, the website (which can be found at plc.wa.edu.au) will enable parents, students and staff to view all the fitness classes, programmes, services, events and courses available at the Lighthouse. PLC community members will be able to book classes, events or appointments through handy links on the site. Spread Kindness this ChristmasIn case you missed it in last week's Lighthouse News, I encourage you to download our 24 Acts of Christmas Kindness Advent Calendar and celebrate the holiday season differently this year. The PLC community recognises the importance of kindness and its significant impact on an individual’s health and wellbeing. It doesn’t matter whether you are the receiver or giver of kindness, there are positive impacts for both. So download the calendar and work through the challenge every day in December with your family. It's better for you than the typical chocolate advent calendar and more fun as well! Be Well and Merry Christmas. - Laura Allison, Director of Wellbeing Congratulations to the students and teachers of Year 6 who provided Junior School students, staff and families with plenty of entertainment last Friday afternoon with their assembly.
