Deck the halls with boughs of holly – Strathfield Christmas Carols is back on Saturday 10 December! This family fun-filled event will see Strathfield Park turned into a Christmas wonderland with activities for the kids including a petting farm and face painting; showbags and a visit from Santa Claus; as well as a special movie screening of the heartfelt movie The Good Dinosaur (PG). Be sure to bring a present for the Salvation Army’s Christmas Toy Appeal. Local elections may be postponed for years whilst the merge of several councils remain unresolved. Fourteen councils, including Strathfield, delayed elections in 2016 and unless the amalgamation issue is resolved before August 2017, elections cannot be held until September 2019. This date coincides with the State Government elections, a clash which could result in a further delay until 2020. Strathfield Council continues to review its legal options in light of any new developments regarding amalgamation. For the first time, we also have a tree at Town Hall, greeting visitors to Council Chambers. You may also have spotted the traditional garlands around the shopping districts.
