Health Insurance DeadlineFriday, September 16th | 11:59 PM All domestic, undocumented, and permanent resident students, enrolled in six units or more, must be covered under the CGU Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) or have comparable coverage. The deadline to waive out or enroll is September 16th. International student visa holders are automatically enrolled in the GeoBlue plan but can take action to waive out by September 16th. Disability History, Culture, and AllyshipThursday, September 8th | 12:00pm - 1:00pm Join in this virtual session with guest facilitators from the Student Disability Resource Center (SDRC) for a look at how disability culture and history have shaped the current climate of higher education, how ableism persists and how to be an ally. This session is especially important for all student leaders and mentors! Student Services Block Party: Back to Your FutureThursday, September 15th | 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM Back to Your Future is a large outdoor event lining the streets outside the south side of the Library along 8th Street and College Way with booths featuring free food, games and more fun. A DJ/MC playing music, a festive atmosphere and prizes throughout the event will make for a great time. Balloon arches, mascots (invited) and inflatables or games will dot the landscape creating a fun, festive environment. Join in on a discussion on transitions and cultural adjustment, including understanding culture shock and how it relates to adjustment, exploring major stressors experienced by international students, how these stressors impact emotional wellbeing, and how to respond and transition well. Optional Practical Training (OPT) WorkshopsWednesday, September 14th | 12 PM - 1 PM SLDL will host an Optional Practical Training (OPT) workshop, open to all current F-1 students, especially those who are planning to apply for pre/post completion OPT during the current or upcoming semester. During the session, we will cover information on what OPT is, and the application process including eligibility rules, timeline and required documents for submission. Veteran StudentsVeterans Community HourMonday, September 27th | 11:30am-1pm Claremont Consortium student veterans and active-duty service members are invited to share space and connect at a wonderful space - the Benton Museum of Art.
