No images? Click here Volunteering in a time of social distancing. We have all heard a lot about washing our hands lately: how to do it thoroughly, what songs we should sing while washing, how often it ought to be done. But what about lending a hand? At Team Giving, we know that volunteering is vital to our world, no matter what that world looks like at any given moment. Below you'll find a few ways you can lend a (socially distant) hand to help our community as we navigate the world of COVID-19. HandsOn Sacramento is coordinating our region's disaster response in light of COVID-19. If you are in the Sacramento Region, you can find a number of coordinated opportunities on their website. Not all volunteering requires we leave our homes. Those who are at higher risk or who may have been exposed to COVID-19 can still lend a hand. Points of Light is continually adding to the Virtual Volunteering list, which you can check out below. If you have specific skills you may want to contribute (marketing or website design, for example), you can browse Taproot or Catchafire, where nonprofits post needs for skilled volunteers. SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY SHOUT-OUT Thank you to DialSource, who partnered with Team Giving to launch their 2020 Social Responsibility Program painting murals at Rise Against Hunger (before Stay at Home was in place)! While it may be a while before this warehouse is full of volunteers again, when they return it will be a brighter, more inspiring place to lend a hand in the fight against food shortage. EVENT UPDATE Like many nonprofit events, our Annual Celebration of Volunteers that was scheduled for this evening has been postponed. However, we will still be celebrating volunteers! Our heartfelt thank you to our sponsors for their commitment to celebrate volunteerism once the new date is determined. If you have a moment today, take time to express your appreciation to a volunteer who has helped you in some way. Thank you to our incredible community for keeping each other safe and helping those in need. We are thankful for you, and hope our April Newsletter finds us all living in a healthier, safer, stronger world. Stay well! |
