Industrial Action - May 29 Teachers' Strike

Dear Parents/Guardians,

As many of you will be aware, both primary and secondary school teachers have voted to strike on Wednesday May 29.

The Board of Trustees supports our teachers in taking this action, and acknowledges the importance of ensuring we have the best teachers working with our students. In order to achieve this teacher workload, pay and conditions need to be addressed.

The Board of Trustees has determined that Te Hihi school would be unable to provide a safe and secure environment for our students and has decided to close the school for instruction on Wednesday, 29 May. The board's decision extends to SKIDS and Karate as well and as such, SKIDS & Karate will not operate on Wednesday 29 May.

Should the industrial action (strike) be called off before 29 May, the school will advise parents as soon as they are informed.

The board apologises for any inconvenience this closure may cause parents and calls on the government and union to work to a speedy and acceptable resolution.
