Week of November 27, 2017 1. Catalyzing Change in Public Systems In 2013, Georgia leaders came together to address reading proficiency — not only as an education issue, but also as an urgent priority for all who care about children’s health and well-being. Together, they formed the Get Georgia Reading Campaign and developed a common agenda as a shared framework for action at both the state and community levels. A modest investment from the Annie E. Casey Foundation's Atlanta Civic Site and the Joseph P. Whitehead Foundation, managed by United Way of Greater Atlanta, supports the infrastructure for this collective effort. This mini-plenary session shares how their involvement in the GLR Campaign has influenced their public investments and actions. • Moderator: Arianne Weldon, Get Georgia Reading Campaign 2. Executive Function Into Action What does it take to turn research on executive function into action? During this leading-edge conversation at the Funder Huddle, the expert discussants and moderator shared their insights and experiences translating basic science into effective practices. They also examined how those programs can be designed and integrated into school settings as well as a Campaign for Grade-Level Reading community. • Moderator: Ellen
