NOTICES:*Safety of our Students: It is important for the safety of our students and local residents that all parents who drive to school in the mornings and afternoons are adhering to the road rules. We ask you all to consider the following: - Do not speed on our surrounding roads as many families walk to and from school and this compromises their safety.
- Do not park on the zig zag lines at the front of the school as this impacts on our students safely crossing the road.
- Do not park across the driveways of our neighbours, as this will disrupt access to their private property. As a school we suggest walking or catching public transport to school to where possible. If you have to drive, there is often ample parking spaces a little further away from the school, which may also alleviate the congestion and stress of the morning. We thank you for your cooperation on this matter and your consideration of our local community. **The 2018/2019 Academic Year begins on Monday 10th September 2018.***Shoes and clothing donations please! If you have any shoes/plimsolls/wellies or tights and socks
that your child has grown out of, please can you bring them along to the Reception classrooms. Thank you!
****Equipment - Parents please ensure your child comes into school with all the equipment and food they will need for the day. The front office will not be responsible for taking things to classroom as this is disruptive to children's learning.
An Egg-Cellent Week in Reception! This Week we have had a wonderful time watching our young chicks grow bigger. We have continued to learn all about their life cycle and are noticing how they are changing day by day. We will be very sad to say goodbye when they return to their farm
next week!In Maths this Week, we are practising our addition and subtraction skills using counters, cubes and other objects. We are really looking forward to our trips to Newham city farm next week. So please return your reply slip if you have not done so already. Thank you.
Year 1 Mapping the Story of Florence Nightingale Year 1 have been introduced to the story of Florence Nightingale, the famous nurse who was born in 1820. The children have mapped the most important sequence of events in her life, including, why she became a nurse, her role in the Crimean war and how she established a nursing
hospital. A reminder: If you have any seeds, herbs or cuttings for our outside herb garden they will be greatly appreciated.
Measuring MadnessThis Week Year 2 have been learning all about measure. We've explored temperature by carefully using thermometers to investigate the coolest and warmest spots in our classroom. We moved on to looking at volume and the capacity of various containers. This all got a bit
messy when we poured water into a different sized containers to test whether their capacity was more than, less than or equal to 1 litre.
Creative Characters! This Week Year 3 have continued to find out about Beijing. We looked at creating some traditional Chinese art using a watercolour background which we will then paint Chinese characters on. After we completed our watercolour background we practised painting the characters outside using water. We
also looked at what different Chinese characters mean.
And Breathe...
Year 4 have spent the last two weeks learning about the function of our organs. Last week we focused on the respiratory system and worked in teams to create a model of the lungs. To be successful we had to give each member of the team a clear role and make sure we all agreed on the best way to use all the equipment. This week we have focused on the digestive system and can now clearly explain what happens to the food we eat!
