    There is still time! The Open Education Sustainability Grant for Institutions call for proposals is open until August 22, 2019.

    This is a funds-matching grant and funds can be used for, but are not limited to, workshops, training, and institutional support for OER and open education infrastructure such as:

    • Awareness building
    • Helpdesk support specific to open education
    • How to use or adopt OER
    • Open pedagogy
    • Open policy
    • Open publishing support or services (new creations or adaptations)
    • Pressbooks support and training

    Four grants of $32,250 each will be offered.

     

    Funding Opportunities

     

    BCcampus Learning Access Program for Educators (LAP-E) supports applicants to allow them to participate and share their ideas as well as learn from others. BCcampus aims to provide a diverse set of voices to its events and will balance regional participation with budget limitations.

    The LAP-E assists with registration fees as well as travel, per diem, and accommodation costs. We are currently accepting applications for the following events:

      • FLO Design 
      • ETUG Fall Workshop 
      • Introduction to Liberating Structures
      • 2019 Symposium: Learning Transformation
      • FLO Fundamentals

      Our FLO Enthusiasts Tech Buddyship Experience

      On June 19th, a group of FLO Enthusiasts gathered together at Thompson Rivers University to share experiences and plan next steps for the FLO family of courses. These face-to-face meetings that bring together a group of facilitators who typically interact in online spaces have become an (almost) annual event. Read more...

      • American Government 2e (OpenStax) This will be replacing the 1st edition, scheduled removal is Oct 1.

      Support resources updates

      • An adaptation of KPU's Student Agreement to Publish Course Work Under a Creative Common's License has been added to the BCcampus:
      • Open Pedagogy Resources (see ancillary resources).
      • Self-Publishing Guide, in Appendix 4: Contracts and Agreements.

      • FAQ Guide: A new set of answers have been added for the Open Education Sustainability Grant for Institutions.

      Help us identify the gaps

      Contact opentext@bccampus.ca if you would like to see open textbooks made available for specific subject areas in the B.C. Open Textbook Collection. In particular, we'd like to hear of topics in these areas: business, early childhood education (ECE), health, STEM (science, technology, engineering, math), and trades.

      For the most current open education information, take a look at these continuously updated directories:

      • Information Directory - research, articles, blogs, books related to open education in Canada, the U.S., Global North, and Global South regions.
      • Post-Secondary Directory - An inventory of all things open for each post-secondary institution in B.C., and every province and territory in Canada.
