Had enough of giving the same old ties and socks as Christmas presents? Give them something different this year – something living! Plants make excellent gifts, which live on long after the left over ham has been finished. With plants starting from $2.50 at the Strathfield Depot Nursery there is something for every budget. Need some help looking after those plants too? Treading Lightly has you covered with plant friendly classes throughout 2017.

To book a time to visit the nursery, call Natural Resources Coordinator, Alex Mackenzie on 0419 233 460 or contact Council on 02 9748 9999.

The Strathfield and High Street Libraries provide access to printing facilities from personal devices via WiFi. Fees start from 20c per A4 sheet and users can print in colour as well as black and white. Staff are available at both libraries to offer assistance. For further information see the library staff or call 02 8762 0222.

Strathfield Station

Strathfield Station has been a transport hub of the Inner West since its completion in 1855. The Sydney (Redfern) – Parramatta line, which includes Strathfield, had a journey of just 40 minutes, a revolutionary improvement to transport at the time. The photo below shows a mixture of old and current themes – many residents will recognise the iconic station roofing, however the steam engine and c1900 clothing of passengers seem out of place to our modern eyes!

Please be aware that Council will be closed from Saturday 24 December 2016 and will re-open on Tuesday 3 January 2017.

Council is contactable for emergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on
(02) 9748 9999.
