It's that time of year again! Holiday Gift time! For those of you who don't know what we're talking about, every year Looney Labs shows our appreciation for our fans by giving them a free holiday gift. Some years there is a physical mailing, other years it is an online download. But it is always given with our deepest appreciation for our amazing fans. Thank you, all!

This year we have a fun new pyramid game called Bowler Rink. This game is intended to be played with a copy of Pyramid Arcade, but can be played with any pyramids you might have and a cardboard box or game lid.

Andy originally invented this game as a way to include gambling in a LARP he created. The LARP and this game were playtested at Burning Man 2019, and a great time was had by all.

You do not need to include gambling for this simple dexterity game to bring lots of fun to your table. Nor do you need a crowd, though this game can be played by up to 10 players. You simply need a sense of fun and a steady hand.

In addition to the print and play rules, we have created some Pyramid Arcade style game description cards and will be including one in every order placed through our website from now through the end of the year. We hope that you and your bubble enjoy some rousing fun this holiday season and beyond.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

It's almost time for those six new products to release on November 12th! We've already told you about Zendo Expansion Pack #2 and Star Trek: Voyager Fluxx in past issues of this newsletter. Now today we want to tell you about the four new pyramid games!

These four games are ranked in complexity form level 1 (simplest) to level 4 (most complex). Nomids is our level 1 game and is appropriate for kids as young as 6, and works with up to 10 players. It's also the only brand new game amongst the four. All of the other games have been published before as part of Pyramid Arcade, but Nomids is making its debut with this printing! Gameplay involves rolling a die and taking actions until someone is able to get rid of all of their pyramids. The first player to have "no 'mids" wins!

At level two is Ice Duo. This box actually contains two distinct games--Ice Dice and Twin Win. Ice Dice is a fun press-your-luck game along the lines of Farkle, Can't Stop, or Cosmic Wimpout. Should you stop while you're ahead, or keep rolling and possibly bust out??? Twin Win is a hidden goal game in which everything comes in twos--the goals, the moves... even the rules for who goes first! The first player to match one of their hidden goals wins!

Next up is Martian Chess at level 3. We have created not one, but TWO new opaque pyramid colors for this game. The color that will be in distribution for years to come is Martian Red, and it looks great on the Martian-colored board! Or if you prefer, you can buy the special Kickstarter set with shiny silver pyramids for a limited time. These will only be available through participating retailers and our webstore while supplies last. Either way, the pieces are beautiful and the game is mind-bending. An excellent gift choice for your chess-loving friends!

Finally, at level 4 is Homeworlds. This is a heavy perfect information strategy game that packs a big punch for such a small package! Homeworlds was the 10th most popular heavy strategy game on Board Game Geek in 2019, not far behind classics such as Chess, Go, and Bridge. For those hard-core strategy enthusiasts out there, this game is for you!

Each of these games is complete and tons of fun straight out of the box. But the added bonus is that each game also provides enough pieces to play several additional games that have been designed for the Looney Pyramid system. Furthermore, each of these games serves as an expansion for Pyramid Arcade, providing even more game playing options! We are working on a website that explains this further, and will post the link to our social media sites once it's ready to go.

LooneyCon has only happened once... in 2016 for our 20th anniversary. It was tons of fun and you can see a video about it here. We will again be holding celebrations throughout the year in 2021 for our 25th anniversary. We don't know exactly what form those events will take yet, because we don't know how the pandemic will affect us all next year. But we WILL be having some fun and definitely want you to join us!

MARCH

MidSouthCon 2021

Though the 2020 MidSouthCon was canceled due to the pandemic, Kristin and Andy are scheduled again to be gaming guests of honor at MidSouthCon for next year if it happens! They very much enjoyed being guests of honor a few years ago and plan to bring even more fun this time around! The Looneys look forward to playing your favorite games with you, signing autographs, and showing off prototypes of upcoming games!

MidSouthCon is the longest-running annual fan-run multi-genre Science Fiction Convention in the Mid-South. It covers a diverse section of fannish culture that includes Science Fiction, Fantasy, Science, Comics, Horror, Education, Costuming, Anime, and Gaming. MidSouthCon has an average of 2200 attendees, including over 100 authors, editors, publishers, scientists, artists and other guests and panelists. It features more than 200 hours of programming, including panels, the annual Art and Charity Auctions, Masquerade costume contest, and more. There are also hundreds of hours of gaming running non-stop throughout the weekend.

Will you be having another LooneyCon for your 25th anniversary next year?

A:  We had absolutely planned to hold one or more big events in 2021 for our silver anniversary, but we just don't feel comfortable doing that with the current pandemic concerns. Although we do expect to carefully attend a few events in 2021, we don't want to be the reason somebody got sick. So no, it's not looking likely that we'll do a physical LooneyCon like we did in 2016, and that saddens us at least as much as it does you.

But we are very busy making plans for an awesome year of celebration nonetheless! We can't give you details just yet, but plan to tell you all about it in the December newsletter. Stay tuned!
