Register now for Council’s Young Women’s AFL program for ages 12-18! The course is 4 weeks long and a great chance to have fun, get fit and make new friends. Anzac Memorial ServiceIn commemoration of Anzac Day, the Cumberland RSL Sub-Branch and Strathfield Council will hold a memorial service. Everyone is most welcome to attend and commemorate all Australians who have served their country. When: Sun 22 April 2018, 10am - 11am Residents please note the area bounded by Rochester St (between Coventry Rd and Beresford Rd) will be closed from 9.30am until approximately 10.30am. Music and LyricsMayor Gulian Vaccari visited St Martha’s Primary School to distribute certificates of participation to the St Martha’s String Ensemble and Choir for performances at Council events. The children recently performed ‘I am Australian’ at Strathfield Harmony Day. Free Child Car Seat Safety CheckIt’s scary to think that 2 in 3 car seats are not being used properly. Share Our SpaceSchool Holidays may be starting next week, but that doesn’t mean Strathfield South Primary School’s playground will be closed. Calling All Green ThumbsCouncil will be running a series of garden clinic workshops in April for those who would like to learn more about plants, gardens and how to take care of them! Throwback ThursdayStreet Trees and Nature StripsMuch of the distinctive character of the Strathfield district was developed as a result of programs from the late 1880’s including the NSW State Government grants for street tree planting. Council also initiated a program of ‘boulevarding’ which included street tree planting, road widening, building of footpaths and the development of nature strips.
