No Images? Click here Welcome to the latest edition of Education Eye. I hope you had a wonderful summer doing whatever you enjoy and found the time to have a relaxing break too. Listening to feedback, we've been working to develop extra support for education professionals who are members, and prospective members, working as self-employed or independent consultants. So we're delighted to announce that we have secured access to a range of training courses with our freelance colleagues in BECTU. These courses have a union discount, and we hope will benefit members outside of, or thinking of leaving, full-time employment. We're also trialing a jobs webpage for members, to show latest vacancies and rates of pay for roles we would consider to be of interest to our members. Feedback on these initiatives, or suggestions for other services, can be sent to me at: steve.thomas@prospect.org.uk Back to our bread and butter, which remains individual representation, consultation and negotiation. Soulbury pay negotiations are, at time of writing, reaching a crunch point and we expect to communicate with members again on this shortly. Lastly, can I encourage members to come to our 2018 professional seminar on Saturday 10 November. We think that there's a space for non-teaching education professionals to get together at the end of our #talkprospect Union Week and are inviting members and non-members to join us in Birmingham. Full details on how to book your place for the professional seminar, the new jobs page and training courses, are below. This is the last Education Eye of the year but we will, of course, continue to keep you informed of all important developments and you can always keep an eye on the ECS section of the Prospect website.
