Council Closure Queen's Birthday

Strathfield Council Customer Service will be closed for the public holiday on Monday 14 June 2021 and will reopen on Tuesday 15 June 2021.

Greening Our City

A number of trees have been planted in Elliott Reserve as part of the Greening Our Industrial Areas Experiment. Council is excited to take part in this initiative for a greener and more sustainable Strathfield. 

Double Demerits

Be sure to take extra care this long weekend. Remember, double demerits apply from Friday 11 June - Monday 14 June for speeding, illegal mobile phone usage, driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, and not wearing your helmet or seat belt.

The Amazing 3D Printer

We're excited to announce that our 3D printer is coming online! From 1 July, you will have the opportunity to submit your own 3D print jobs at rates outlined in our new fees and charges. Come by the Strathfield Library & Innovation Hub to see it in action for the next few weeks! 

Local Government Elections

If you would like to work at the September local government elections, you can now submit an expression of interest application. Duties include working on the day of election (Saturday 4 September) in a polling place, or for longer periods in a returning office or in one of our pre-poll voting centres. 

Robert Henry Beardsmore

Accountant, Major (later Colonel) Robert Beardsmore of Elouera, 75 Albert Road Strathfield had a distinguished military career. In January 1915 he was appointed to command the garrison at Rabaul. At the disastrous Battle of Fromelles in July 1916 he was wounded early in the fighting but continued to lead his men for ten hours, digging trenches across No Man’s Land. He earned the Distinguished Service Order: ‘the coolness and courage displayed in remaining at his post for so many hours after being wounded had a great influence on the work of his men.’ Beardsmore was later promoted to lieutenant colonel.
