Beginning Shibori with Kathie

March 2, 9:30 - 4:30

In this class students will learn the basics of how to stitch Shibori designs into fabric. Then using Procian Fiber Reactive dyes, dye the fabric and be amazed at what unfolds. Beginners, ages 16 and up.

Make an African Print Bag with Renisha

February 22, 6:30 - 8:30 pm

In this class, students will learn the basic techniques needed to color with thread using a sewing machine. In a hands‐on process, students will learn how to successfully use fabrics, stabilizers, threads and other tools to create thread‐painted designs.

Collage Quilts Technique Class with Sue

March 12 and 19, 10:30 - 1:00

Learn to create the collage techniques used in Laura Heine’s popular patterns. Fabric selection, preparation, fussy cutting, pattern transfer, and quilt top completion will be covered in two classes. This is a no-sew technique and a no-sew class!

We are proud to partner with Carole of From My Carolina Home in her efforts to provide quilts to our NC neighbors who were so profoundly affected by the 2018 hurricanes.

Whether you are making a quilt specifically for this cause, or you have one finished and sitting on a shelf in your home, all quilts are welcome. Do you have a completed quilt that you could part with for someone who lost everything?

This project will continue through summer of 2019, so there is plenty of time to make and drop off a quilt.

Cary Quilting Company is glad to be a drop off site for this generous project.

Book Review

Our first featured Book of the Month is Fat Quarter Style by It's Sew Emma.

This quilt pattern book features twelve fun easy to follow patterns using fat quarters with easy to follow instructions for the beginner to the intermediate quilter. The beginning of the book gives you a list of recommended supplies, techniques, backing and binding tips which are very helpful.

One of the features we really like about this book is they offer several size options including crib, lap, twin and queen including backing fabric requirements for either horizontal or vertical backing piecing. Each pattern offers easy to follow instructions with illustrations for cutting and layout that made piecing and completing the quilts enjoyable.

The finished quilts are well photographed giving you a full image of each completed quilt along, with natural settings showing the drape of the quilts.

Primrose and Lattice, two quilts from the book will be on display in the store for you to ooh and ahh over! We hope you enjoy this pattern book as much as we have.
