This is just a friendly reminder about some activities coming up this week and later in June. Make sure to mark your calendars! Creating a More Colorful & Bird-Friendly Yard - June 17Please join The FriendShip for a special program about "How to create a more colorful and bird-friendly yard" on Wednesday, June 17 from 2:00-3:00 p.m. via Zoom. If you haven't already done so, please RSVP today! Program description: Bring more color to your yard by providing a better habitat for birds and butterflies through enhancing its beauty with native plants! We'll focus on birds, what they eat, and how you can attract more to your property, but we'll also talk about some of our fascinating moths and butterflies and how to attract those too! And if you've ever wondered what bird was singing, we'll practice some bird songs and sounds so you can identify that bird you're hearing by ear. Speaker information: Jay Keck is the Habitat Education Manager for the SC Wildlife Federation. He leads bird walks and teaches the birding segment of the Master Naturalist class. He also visits schools, churches, private landowners, and businesses to encourage them to enhance their property to support our local wildlife. A Baltimore Oriole changed his life eight years ago by opening his eyes up to the beauty of birds and butterflies, and to the delicate relationship between native plants and wildlife. Other details: Please email contact@thefriendship.org or call 803-602-6434 to RSVP. The Zoom link and dial-in information will be sent out the morning of the program to all members and volunteers. (As a reminder, Zoom is a video-conferencing program that can be used from your smartphone, tablet, or computer. But, you can also dial in on your phone if you don't have those devices or prefer using your phone.)
