NSW Farmers Drought Appeal
Strathfield Council is partnering with Rural Aid and have launched a fundraising appeal to help ease the burden of farmers battling against drought. Council have opened the appeal with a $10,000 donation and is encouraging Strathfield residents and the wider community to help raise money for farming families.

Strathfield Got It Sorted
133 vehicles dropped by Council’s free e-waste drop off day last Sunday, with over 8 tonnes of e-waste collected. A big thank you to those who participated and ensured their e-waste was recycled thoughtfully.
Building and Development Bill Feedback
The Building Professionals Board are seeking feedback on the Building Development Certifiers Bill 2018, which aims to strengthen the regulation of certifying authorities. Feedback must be provided by 4 September 2018 via email: BDCBill2018@finance.nsw.gov.au or phone: 13 32 20
Playground Update
Council are still busy beavering away with playground updates as the Bressington Park playground equipment has now been installed! Final works to include wet-pour rubber and shade structure.

A public meeting is to be held by the Sydney Eastern City Planning Panel to listen to the community’s views on the following planning proposals:

Draft Councillors Expenses and Facilities Policy
On 7 August 2018, Council resolved to place a new Councillors Expenses and Facilities Policy on public exhibition. The draft Policy will be on public exhibition from 9 August 2018 until 6 September 2018. Submissions must be received by 4pm 6 September 2018.
Throwback Thursday
‘Glen Luna’ - Carrington Ave, Strathfield
‘Glen Luna’ was the home of prominent barrister Dr George Sly, founder of the legal practice Sly and Russell. The distinguishing feature of ‘Glen Luna’ was a grand entrance and staircase that faced The Boulevarde on the corner of Carrington Avenue.

Strathfield Cricket Club Registrations Now Open!
Registrations for the 2018/19 cricketing season are now open and the Strathfield Cricket Club invite all junior cricketers between the age of 5-16 to sign up and make new friends while enjoying the fun sport of cricket!
