Click here Dear Friend of PLC One of the highlights of every school year is without question the School Musical and this year I’m particularly excited because Chicago is one of my all-time favourites. The girls and the Theatre Arts team have been putting in an enormous effort to ensure we are treated to a spectacular performance. The word is the costumes are going to be a major highlight of the performance and I’m told the set is absolutely superb. If you haven’t already, please book your tickets for one of the five shows, which run from next Wednesday 1 August to Saturday 4 August. I am very confident you won’t be disappointed. It has a been a busy start to Term 3 with my week kept particularly full with interviews with short-listed candidates for the Head of Junior School role. It was very pleasing to have received some extraordinarily high-quality candidates apply for this position and I would expect to be able to make an announcement very soon on the successful applicant. In addition to interviewing for the Head of Junior School, Ms Anderson and I have been interviewing girls who applied for the roles of Head Prefect and Deputy Head Prefect. These opportunities make me reflect with great pride on the development of the young women we have here at PLC. There is a very strong field in the running for these roles, which exemplifies the caliber of students we have here at the School. I wish each girl well; sadly only a few will be voted into formal leadership roles, however as the girls move into Year 12 I consider them all to be leaders within our community and role models for our younger students. Good luck to all of our Junior School girls participating in the Inter-House Cross Country event tomorrow. I hope our Year 10 students enjoy their Dance with their Scotch College counterparts, being held in the School Cafeteria tomorrow evening. - Dr Kate Hadwen, Principal Wednesday 1 - 4 AugustChicago the Musical Sunday 5 AugustYear 12 Mothers' Moray Campsite Sleepover Thursday 9 AugustParents@PLC General Meeting, save the date Thursday 16 AugustSenior School Arts Day, save the date Saturday 25 AugustFarm2Fork Wednesday 12 SeptemberParents@PLC Country Day Trip, save the date Friday 26 OctoberOpen Garden Day, save the date Chevron City to Surf Fun RunWe would like to invite students and their families to join TEAM PLC in the City to Surf Fun Run on Sunday 26 August. We hope that the recent holidays provided plenty of family time, rest and recovery from a busy Semester 1. This week began with Years 2 - 6 Chapel and Reverend Gary reminded us of the importance of sharing and being easy on each other. These are important messages for our students, and for us, as adults. The message of sharing is not about food or toys but about being generous with our time, sharing ideas and being inclusive. We will continue to support your children with developing these social skills at PLC. I had the privilege of interviewing applicants for our 2019 Head and Deputy Head Prefect positions. I am amazed at the poise and confidence each girl has displayed, and the way in which each has been able to promote herself whilst maintaining a degree of humility. I have been equally impressed by the girls' speaking and presentation skills at ‘Speakers’ Corner’. The thought and energy they have displayed, as well as their willingness to show ‘themselves’ to the voters, has simply been incredible.
