Dear friend,

Today, we need your financial support more than ever.  After health and safety precautions related to the spread of coronavirus have closed businesses and schools, we are the safety net.

After 40 years of declining real wages, increasing costs, and narrowing government benefits for the working class, we are the safety net.

We expect the demand for basic services - emergency food and rental assistance - to increase dramatically over the next couple of weeks as hourly and service employees lose income.  We are the safety net.

When, and if, the government provides assistance for those affected by coronavirus there will still be a delay in receiving it for those that apply.  We are the safety net.

Since our inception over 55 years ago, Sacred Heart was built on a  foundation of neighbors helping neighbors.   We - you and me - are the safety net.

Here are some of the ways your donation helps:

  • $100 provides 3 families a food pantry visit.
  • $500 covers a temporary staff person for two days.  We have seen a large drop in volunteers and need to hire to continue serving our community with dignity.
  • $1,000 helps a family pay the rent when there has been a documented loss of income due to a health or other life change.
  • $5,000 covers facilities costs to keep us safe from the spread of illness because we are committed to remaining open for our community. To learn more about our operations changes to maximize social distancing click here.

Thank you for doing your part to help one another in these challenging times.

In Solidarity,

Poncho Guevara, Executive Director
