Principal's Message
Welcome to Week 9 the Second last week of school for 2020! Its been an exciting and eventful week as the end of term 4 draws near.
2021 is already off to a great start. We met our new 2021 year 7 students at our Year 7 Orientation day! They were a terrific bunch; friendly, happy and excited young adults who were willing to participate in everything.
Orientation Day
What a great day, filled with fun and enthusiasm as year 6 students were given a taste of high school life! Our new additions met their campus Principal, Year Advisor, Peer Support Leaders, Teachers, Support Staff and fellow new students. Students attended 'Taster Classes' allowing them to not only become familiar with what classes they will expect to attend, but also changing classrooms and the structure of a day at Hastings Secondary College.
Hastings Secondary College Clontarf Academy Awards 2020
Our annual Hastings Secondary College Clontarf Academy Awards were held Thursday 3 December 2020
Congratulations to our Clontarf Academy on another successful year despite the challenge’s students faced through school learning from home and the impacts of the COVID 19 Pandemic. Clontarf Academy played an integral part of keeping the students engaged and connected.
Let's do Lunch
Year 11 Hospitality students treated staff to light lunch. Students gained valuable "hands on" experience, serving and preparing food for customers. These service periods are combined with work placement learning to ensure our VET students are fully prepared for successful employment within the Hospitality industry.
Week 9 - David Attenborough Week at Westport Campus
Two Year 11 students have come up with a wonderful way for the school to celebrate the end of the year, with a David Attenborough environmental week.
Activities planned for Week 9 are:
Monday 7th December 2020
- MUFTI Day - dress up as your favourite Eco Warrior (David Attenborough, Steve Irwin, Steve Backshall etc) or your most loved endangered animal
- Gold coin donation for the day
- Lunch 2 - BBQ and soft drinks for sale
- Lunch 2 - Milkshakes for sale (using eco-friendly cups)
- Prize for "Best Dressed"
Money raised will be donated to the Westport Campus Environmental Team
A David Attenborough documentary and interactive discussions will also take place throughout the week.
Mr Dalton, a highly regarded teacher from our PDHPE faculty parts with his precious locks for a for a fantastic cause.
Every year 20,000 brave Heroes shave their heads to conquer blood cancer as part of 'The World’s Greatest Shave’. All funds raised contribute to Research Scientists in their constant search for better ways to diagnose and treat blood cancer more effectively.
