NOTICES:
Important Notice: From Monday 12th November, the Primary gates will not be opened until 2:55pm ready for a 3:00pm collection. This is due to the fact that many lessons are still taking place at this time and children may be working in the playground. Thank you for your co-operation and understanding.
Parents should not be waiting in the Front Office reception area after 4:30pm without a staff member. If you are waiting to collect from a club you must wait outside the building. Morning break snacks are to be fruit (fresh, dried etc) not biscuits or cereal bars. Please leave these items for lunch or after school clubs snacks. Reminder: Football shoes are not to be worn to school, they are dangerous as they do not allow the students to have a good grip when running on hard surfaces and could lead to an accident. Any student who wears them to school will not be allowed to participate in PE lessons or use the playground at break and lunch times.
Break Time Snacks: All children can bring a snack from home to have at break time. This snack MUST be fruit. If any child brings a snack that is not fruit, they will be asked to put it back in their bags to eat after school.
It is important that parents model good behaviour for children. Please do not swear or use insulting language in the playground. If a member of staff hears this you will be asked to leave the premises and may be banned. Please also remember that our staff are always working for the best interests of the children. If you would like to discuss
anything regarding your child please speak to the class teacher, Mrs Drummond or Miss Dilger. Please do not shout or be rude to a member of staff as this makes the situation very difficult.

Local Area WalkThis week Reception have been learning all about their local area. We went on a walk around Stratford and looked at some of the key places that are close to us. We learned about how we can stay safe and what to do if we get lost. We talked about some of the important people from our community who would be able to help us. Thanks
again to all the parents who came along to support us.
Big Bad WolfThis week Year 1 have been deepening their understanding of the traditional tale ‘Little Red Riding Hood’. We’ve created artwork whist exploring character and settings and focused on adjectives and questioning through role play and rich language. Today we used the forest school to retell the narrative using
interactive performance.
Volcanic Investigation! In Year 2 we have been investigating why volcanoes explode. We have learnt about the different parts of the volcano and what they do through discussion with our friends. We used our learning about the layers of the earth to help us understand how a volcano works. We then looked at a story map of a volcanic eruption and
explained the process to our talk partner. Our favourite part of the week was when we had a visit from one of our parents who works with volcanoes! We learnt a lot from this presentation and it helped us to explain why volcanoes erupt in more detail.
Discovering the PastThis week year 3 have been looking at Ancient Egyptian artefacts. We've been discussing what the artefacts could be, trying to think of multiple ideas and linking these ideas to what we know about life in Ancient Egypt.
World ExplorersYear 4 have had a great start to their project "How are families shaped by where they live?" They have had the chance to have lessons from Miss McCartney, Mr Garvey and Miss Ranken on Brazil, China and Kenya, and will be making their selection of which country they would like to focus on this
week.
Grit certificate winners Congratulations to all of our Grit certificate winners, who have shown perseverance and determination in all their work. Our winners this week were: Ethan, Elysa, Anaika, Cali, Mohammed, Obi, Ezekiel, Patrisiya, Kieron, Rome, Abdullahi, Daisy, Mia and Jasper.
Recieving Emails from School Those with Yahoo email accounts need to add: 3164001@capita-intouch.co.uk as a safe contact so that they can receive emails from the school.
Returning spare clothesIf your child has borrowed clothing from school (especially in Reception and Year 1) please can you ensure that it is washed and brought back to school as soon as possible so that it is available for other children to borrow. Thank you.
Overdue Library BooksPlease return your overdue library books! We currently have over 500 books overdue. This means that students are unable to borrow popular books. Students are allowed to borrow up to three books for a loan period of one month and can be renewed after this period should the need arise. Any books that are lost or damaged must be replaced. The People’s Budget Forums will be held on 16 January, 21 January and 24 January, giving residents a chance to speak with the Mayor of Newham, Cabinet members and
officers about the budget proposals.
The proposals, which have been influenced by what residents have said during Citizens’ Assemblies, include investing: £3m to pay our care staff the London Living Wage; £1.4m into youth services to keep our young people safe; £6.3m so that primary school children continue to eat for free; £10.6m into Children’s Services; £1.3m to support children with Special Educational Needs; £1.4m to support 19,000 lowest income
households by cutting the cost of their Council Tax; £390,000 for free bulky waste collections; An additional £500,000 to accelerate social housing
delivery; £250,000 to ensure residents are at the heart of our decision-making process.
In order to pay for this, a 2.9% increase in Council Tax is proposed alongside an Adult Social Care Precept of 2%. This additional payment of just 89p per
week, for a Band D property, for the Newham element of Council Tax, alongside a planned programme of savings, will help fund new and improved services.
The Mayor of Newham, Rokhsana Fiaz, said: “These budget forums are another example of how we are continuing to put residents at the heart of everything we do.
“Setting the budget for 2019/20 is an important step for this administration and we want our residents to be informed about the process.
“I’m encouraging everyone to get involved, including young people, to come along to these People’s Budget Forums to find out more about how we’ll spend money as a council in the next financial year and learn more about what we do.”
The forums are part of a series of platforms created by the council to enhance governance and transparency; and ensure that Newham residents are more involved with decision-making. They will provide an opportunity to discuss how the council is funded, its 2019/20 budget proposals, and how residents can be involved in future budget decisions.
