AAO Convocation 2017 follow up

Hello everyone!
FDM Academy and the AFDMA have had a successful week spreading Fascial Distortion Model at the American Academy of Osteopathy's Convocation in Colorado Springs.  A pre-Convo course for 50 participants was sold-out a month in advance.  Medical students at Convocation had the opportunity to attend a lecture and multiple hands-on sessions, spreading FDM to hundreds more.  We now have numerous Osteopathic Medical schools interested in hosting FDM courses, which is obviously very exciting for everyone who is looking for FDM to be spread.
We're working on the final touches to our teaching schedule for 2017 and already booking courses into 2018.  If you have a facility we could teach at, there is no cost to the facility.  Contact us at our emails listed in this newsletter to discuss booking We have the following dates available for 2017, first-come, first-served:

August 25-27
October 27-29
December 15-17

Scroll down for info on upcoming courses, including our Advanced FDM on a cruise of the Caribbean.

As always, we appreciate you forwarding this email on to your colleagues that would be interested in FDM.  Thanks!

What you'll learn with FDM:

FDM teaches theory and technique applicable to most musculoskeletal conditions and many medical conditions.  It is based on translating the subtle, and often subconscious hand gestures patients use when describing their symptoms.  FDM is a model of both assessment and treatment. It is patient-centered, and the only model that focuses on interpreting HOW a patient describes that symptoms with their hand gestures. This pattern recognition of patients' hand gestures is essentially another language that the medical community has been previously unaware of. Practitioners using FDM can have more options in their differential diagnosis, and less need for imaging, labs, and medication.  FDM incorporates new Pain Science and also provides a framework to develop new techniques that speed return to function.  Almost all manual techniques, whether they are joint mobilization, joint manipulation, OMM, HVLA, or soft-tissue/fascial techniques, will fit into FDM. The end goal of the treatment is restoring range of motion, function, and reducing pain and fear of movement in the patient.

FDM is open to DO, MD, NP, PA-C, PT, PTA, OT, DC, ATC, ND, DPM, DDS, DMD, and certified Structural Integration practitioners (Rolfers).

FDM Testimonial -

We LOVE FDM here, and we are becoming known for the Residency that trains their Residents in this great model! I am the Osteopathic Program Director and the DME for our program, and initially struggled with how to fit Osteopathic manipulation into practice.  I have always felt that I am a family practice doctor through and through, and thus never liked the idea of "OMT Procedure" days, or even having separate OMT appointments for myself or the Residents.  My goal for each Resident (MD/DO) that comes through our program is to be able to adequately address the needs of the patient AT THAT VISIT if possible.  I view Osteopathic Manipulation as another tool in my pocket.  In reality, this is where FDM is key.  I can have a diabetic, hypertensive patient come in for a 15-minute visit, and when his agenda is for back pain, and my agenda is for chronic disease management, we can EACH have our goals met!  We quickly treat his Triggerband or Herniated Trigger Point, and there is still time to take care of his chronic disease during the visit.  FDM allows us to address the concerns of the patient - ankle pain, back pain, headaches, etc. at the time of the visit.  So, we love it!  Every Resident knows how to do FDM thanks to Dr. Todd Capistrant.
