Office of the Registrar General update

Dear colleagues,

We hope you are well. In this update, you will find information on five temporary waivers from the NSW Participation Rules, a new online portal for the property industry by NSW Land Registry Services (LRS), and updated NSW LRS customer fees for 2021.

In light of new COVID-19 cases emerging over the weekend, our advice is to please use online lodgment and enquiry channels where they are available, in favour of visiting the NSW LRS Lodgment Office. If you do need to visit the Lodgment Office, you are required to wear a mask between Monday 21 June 2021 and 12.01am on Thursday 24 June 2021.(please check the NSW LRS website for updates on these requirements, as they may change in the coming days).

The consultation on possible arrangements for a National Register of Enduring Powers of Attorney closes soon. Please submit your response before 30 June 2021.

We are moving forward with the abolition of paper certificates of title, with 11 October 2021 expected as the cessation date. An order in the gazette will soon be released to formally announce the date, along with the mandate of 100% electronic lodgment of land transactions in NSW.

As always, please continue to contact us if you have any issues or questions: www.registrargeneral.nsw.gov.au/contact-us

Kind regards
Danusia Cameron
Acting NSW Registrar General

You might be wondering why we are spelling out links now? It’s because latest best practice advice in the fight against phishers and scammers involves presenting full URLs—instead of hyperlinks, when directing people to information, documents or other links. It might take a little longer to read, but hopefully you can see the links we send are safe to open.
