GP-SP Consults: NewsflashJuly 23, 2019 – As part of the work of the Shared Care GP/SP Consults project, a group of thought leaders comprised of family physicians and specialists have been meeting over the past year to identify solutions to several consultative issues identified as problematic by physicians across the region. An important part of our work is to keep you updated on the approaches we are exploring to resolve these issues, and provide opportunities for you to offer feedback. One of the common issues raised by both physician groups was incomplete referrals and consult letters so we have developed a best practice tool, the Quality Referral and Consult Pocket Checklist adapted from the Quality Referral Evaluation (QuRE) Working Group in Alberta. We believe the checklist will address your concerns by ensuring effective communication and flow of necessary patient information, coordination, and integration in a bidirectional manner – click/tap here to download the checklist. We would appreciate your feedback on its usefulness, please send comments to Jen Ellis, Quality Improvement Coordinator and Evaluator - jellis@divisionsbc.ca. Sincerely, Drs Trevor Aiken, Chi Zhang, Anne Dobson, Dharma McBride, Cortney Shier, Megan Taylor, Kathryn Hale, Andrew Lawe, Bbandama Makwati, David Williams, Sue Benzer, Tandi Wilkinson |
