Hello! It’s that time once again. Leaves are getting crunchier. Days are getting cooler. And the Pulsara platform is getting even better … introducing Pulsara version 6.3! Here’s the skinny: Date of BirthIn 6.3, we added the ability for users to quickly and easily add the patient’s DOB to assist in
pre-registration of the patient. After all, It’s About Time! MOBILE VIEWS

Improved Patient User Interface
6.3 features an improved flow so you can more quickly see full patient details — and edit those details if changes are needed.
Dates
We now display all dates in a standardized format for readability and better localized date support.
EMS CardFor EMS-created cases, hospital teams can use the EMS card to call the EMS agency with just a tap. Regardless of whether EMS creates the case (or somebody at your hospital creates the case on behalf of EMS) folks at the hospital will always be able to use this card to: View “At Patient” time View/update the
ETA
Sneak Peek … in an upcoming release, you’ll also be able to see the EMS Unit Number and call the EMS Unit directly from this card.
Android Oreo and Notification ChannelsThis is a HUGE feature and we are so excited about it! We added native support for the new Android notification channels
feature, introduced in Android 8.0 (Oreo). Pulsara has taken full advantage of Android's push notification configuration features to provide you with incredible flexibility as to how and when you receive push notifications from us. Wait, what? Check out this example: If you are on call at home, late at night, you can choose to have Pulsara primary notifications play the siren sound even when your phone is in Do Not Disturb mode. This allows you to silence almost all communication on your phone, but still receive primary case notifications from Pulsara. No more being relegated to the couch by an angry spouse!
Or, say you only need primary alerts from Pulsara. You can then choose to disable sounds for most Pulsara secondary alerts.
NOTE: We will maintain your current sound preference through the initial upgrade. However, if you change your preference to a custom sound, it is not currently possible to change back to the default Pulsara-provided sound.
Awesome New Features for Android Users
Heads Up Notification for
Primary AlertsIf you are actively using your phone we display a heads up notification at the top of the screen, even when you are using other apps! Brrr. It’s gonna be cold tomorrow.
Notifications Grouped by PatientWhen you receive alerts for multiple patients at the same time, they are grouped together in the Notification Drawer. One notification drawer item groups all secondary alerts for the same patient. In this example, there is 1 active STEMI patient with 4 unread notifications, and 1 active Stroke patient with 6 unread notifications. Tapping on the notification group expands the list so that you can see detailed notifications for a single patient.
NOTE: These features are available only to people using Android 7.0 (N) or 8.0 (O). Android versions 5.0 (L) and 6.0 (M) don’t support these features and unfortunately, iOS does not provide the ability to group push notifications in the Notification Center at this time, so this feature is not available on iOS.
Other changesThe Pulsara app remembers the previously selected Stroke Score. But we received feedback from C-STAT users that they prefer C-STAT to be a follow-on assessment and Pulsara should not default to C-STAT as the first assessment for a new patient. Fixed! We love implementing changes based on user feedback.
Now, we only send alert reminders for a maximum 20 minutes after the primary alert.
Previously, users had the ability to tap on the global timer panel for stroke cases. From there, users could expand it to see a timer for First Medical Contact. While nifty, very few people actually used this feature, so we removed it to free up space on the screen. Simplicity is the name of the game!
Psst ... don’t worry, “At Patient” time can always be seen on the EMS card.
We fixed an issue where activating an already active case would return an “Internal Server Error.” Lame. Now, users are simply directed right to the Active Patient screen.
That’s all folks! Please holler at us with any questions or concerns you might have. Or if you just need a friend to chat about football, we’re here. Happy fall! Simplifying your life, Team Pulsara
- Your same login/password will continue to work.
- If you use Android, or have enabled iOS to automatically update apps, then the Pulsara 6.3 versions will be automatically downloaded and upgraded on your phone or tablet.
- HINT, HINT … we highly recommend enabling iOS to automatically update your apps. It’s
SOOOOOO much easier.
As a reminder, Apple stopped supporting iPhone software version, iOS 7, and the Android community stopped supporting security updates for Android OS versions earlier than 4.4. Going forward, we will no longer be pushing any security or feature updates to unsupported mobile versions. Upgrading your operating system will make it more secure and safe for everyday use and also make the device able to accept important future updates.
