Principal's Message It has been a busy and eventful four weeks, as a community, we have achieved some exciting milestones together. The commitment and resilience from our students and our teachers this term has been nothing short of remarkable. I look forward to the next six weeks which includes welcoming our Year 7 2021 students. This week Year 12 students will reach an important milestone, ending this chapter before taking on the challenges and joys of their next pathway. Mobile Phone Policy Changes At a community engagement meeting with parents and the broader community on 5 November it was unanimously agreed to implement the banning of mobile phones Years 7 - 10 from Term 1 2021. We are currently reviewing access for Years 11 and 12. From Term 1, 2021 there will be a new mobile phone policy. The policy means phones brought to school must be switched off and stored securely in a YONDR pouch. Hastings Secondary College Infrastructure Upgrade At the Parent Lounge on 5 November facilitated by the P&C Associations, Principals Meaghan Cook and Ian Ross provided an update to registered parents on the Hastings Secondary College Infrastructure Project. Term 4 Updated Guidelines - COVID-19Hastings Secondary College along with all other NSW Schools continues to be safe and operations are in line with Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHHPPC) and NSW Health guidelines. 2021 Book and Equipment RequirementsThere are two easy ways to purchase your school books for your child. You can order online and your book pack will arrive at Port Macquarie Campus ready for the first day or you can choose to purchase your book pack and stationery and bring on your first day. 'Sista Connections' launched Sista Connections is a Aboriginal Girls program focused on empowering Aboriginal women to be leaders and role models of the future. The program provides academic support, empowerment through entrepreneurialism and employment, well-being, and community connections. The program is anchored in the values of: Respect, Personal Best, Resilience and Leadership. Read more Selection to attend The National Youth Science ForumYear 11 Port Macquarie Campus students Nina Walters and Mackenzie Toone-Spokes have recently been selected to attend the National Youth Science Forum. Calculators for sale Calculators can be purchased from the front office at a cost of $25. All students in Years 7 to 10 will require a calculator for their Yearly Exam in Week 6. The Maths Department does NOT have enough calculators for every student. Students will be required to provide their own calculator.
