HillaryIn Hillary we have been learning about measuring distances and height. The children have enjoyed exploring measurement using marbles and string. They have also enjoyed playing a variety of marble games. RutherfordRutherford has begun creating their wire armature bases to form a sculpture in the style of Alberto Giacometti. It was great to see and hear students co-operating, problem solving, communicating and risk taking to design their human figure. Mrs Jamieson works with them weekly creating pieces of art. Mufti Day 3 AprilStudents and parents are reminded that we have a mufti day on Wednesday. Instead of a gold coin donation, please send along an Easter Egg for our Easter Raffle. FOTHS FundraiserChristmas in Karaka (CIK) – Coordinators neededThe FoTHS Committee would like to know if anyone in the school community would offer to organise the CIK event held at end of the year. Over the past two years, Kylie Bosanac and Janine Wilson have organised the event with the support of a FoTHS sub-committee. Unfortunately they are unable to continue their roles so we are on the lookout for two LEAD volunteers. All the documentation/procedures/contacts etc. are available and we already have vendors interested in coming back again. Kylie and Janine can provide initial support to learn the systems - but you would need to show initiative and get this project moving from day one. This is an opportunity for someone with effective organisational skills and time to run this in 2019. Unfortunately, if we don’t get any offers, we will need to put the event on hold for a year. If anyone is interested or has further questions, please contact Ana Smith on 021 402 620. If we don’t hear back from anyone before the end of term, we will be notifying the community that the event will not be running this year. Guitar and Ukelele LessonsStarting in Term 2 we will be offering Guitar and Ukelele lessons on Mondays if your child is interested, please contact Sarah Gallichan 02108108042.
