NEAS was proud to host a numeracy workshop for AMEP teachers delivered by Dr Keiko Yasukawa in February.

The NEAS hosted workshop was well attended by 37 AMEP teachers from all corners of Australia, eager to know how they can integrate numeracy into their teaching.

Feedback from the day shows there is keen interest in similar workshops that look at not only the delivery of numeracy topics, but also assessment strategies.

NEAS would like to thank Keiko for her generous support of the AMEP community and for giving her time and expertise to the workshop.

The NEAS Quality Learning Series has broken all attendance records for the third straight year.  

In 2016 alone, 125 ELT professionals have attended workshops in Assessment Against Learning Outcomes, Online Assessment Strategies, Blended Learning Solutions, Strategies for Teaching IELTS, in Sydney and Melbourne. Participants have said that the sessions are “practical, insightful and valuable”.

A positive story for Syrian refugees during these troubled times is quite difficult to find - but NEAS is delighted to broadcast the fine effort of IH Sydney who is sponsoring five refugees to learn English at IH Beirut.

Tim Eckenfels (PA of International House Sydney) stated,  "I feel very strongly that it’s important to help the Syrian people by whatever means possible, and it’s a pleasure to assist with their education and their English language studies."
