April 5th will be a big day for us. As we teased y’all last time, when we sent our two newest games to the printer, we will be releasing both Anatomy Fluxx and Get the MacGuffin in the next few days. Woo-hoo!
Anatomy Fluxx is the next entry in our educational series of Fluxx titles. Designed with the help of an actual ER doctor, this version of Fluxx features internal organs as Keepers, the causes of diseases as Creepers, and an entirely new game mechanism: each Keeper features an informational factlet and “Learning Mode” rules reward the player who can Name the Organ when they are read the factlet, or even recite the factlet when the card is played.
Get the MacGuffin is an all-new game designed by Andy, which uses just 23 colorful, oversized cards. It’s got some similarities to Fluxx, but with just two kinds of cards — Actions and Objects — it plays much faster and always ends in just a few minutes. Get the MacGuffin works well with any number of players from 2-11 and can even be played without a table. And just what is the MacGuffin? It’s that thing in the story which all the characters are trying to get, because whoever has it is most likely to win!
Please pre-order at your FLGS or online from us!

One of the reasons we’re excited about Get the MacGuffin is the wonderful artwork which Alex Bradley created for it. Alex has been a friend for almost two decades, and first illustrated games for us when he did the cover images for the Zendo and IceTowers boxed sets back in 2003. Later he started doing animations, and created an amazing trio of tutorial videos for us, featuring a cartoon version of Andy explaining the rules to IceDice, Seven Dragons, and Star Fluxx. He drew the guests for our Just Desserts expansions, and now he’s done all the illustrations for Get the MacGuffin. We’re incredibly happy with his work on MacGuffin - he really brought the characters in the game to life, often by immortalizing our friends. Look for his lovely wife Renee as the Thief!

Q: WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO MAKE ANATOMY FLUXX? AS ONE OF YOUR CLOSEST FRIENDS, I KNOW YOU ARE VERY SQUEAMISH AND DON'T LIKE TO THINK MUCH ABOUT INTERNAL ORGANS.
|
|
A: It’s true, close friend! I do have a very weak stomach and get queasy at the sight of blood. I would never have expected to be making this product either. But after Math Fluxx and Chemistry Fluxx became such hits for us, I started thinking about other subjects that would work well, and as soon as I thought about internal organs and the way they all interact, it was a no-brainer, as they say. But since, despite my lab coat, I am not a doctor, I would need professional medical help for this one. Much like Cthulhu Fluxx, which was
designed by a friend who’s an expert on the subject, I got my friend Dr. Leila Zucker to work out most of the design for me. And while I prefer not to look at my internal organs, I value them very much and appreciate knowing more about them.
