The 2015 QALEN Symposium Malta is Underway!

The 2015 QALEN Symposium (hosted by FELTOM) in Malta is underway, with representatives from QA agencies in Australia (NEAS), Malta, the United Kingom, New Zealand, Canada and the United States!   Coming issues of NEAS News will report on the findings of the Symposium, alongside new opportunities for collaboration and value generation for ELT and other language providers.  The agenda for discussion includes:

  1. Teacher qualifications "san frontières"
  2. Cross jurisdictional sharing of provider data
  3. A global quality assurance framework

NEAS would like to acknowledge the hard work of FELTOM CEO Genevieve Abela and her team, and to thank them for delivering such a high quality event!

Is your English language teaching provider a NEAS Quality Endorsed Member?

NEAS Quality Endorsement is a process that requires continuous investment on the part of ELT providers, in order to maintain their status.

Not all NEAS members are able to maintain their quality endorsement status and from "time to time" NEAS is required to withhold Quality Endorsement or even withdraw it from providers where quality issues are of serious concern.  Over the past quarter, NEAS has terminated the membership of four providers that have failed to meet the our quality assurance requirements.

We would recommend that you check the NEAS homepage to confirm the NEAS Quality Endorsement  status of your ELT provider, or contact NEAS directly.

The ALTO Deloitte Language Travel Industry Survey 2015

NEAS is pleased to support the 2015 ALTO Deloitte Language Travel Industry Survey. The Association of Language Travel Organisations (ALTO) has commissioned Deloitte Malta to carry out an industry-wide benchmarking exercise within the language travel industry.

ALTO would like to invite you to participate in the second annual survey below, which will result in your receiving a free copy of the final report.

TEQSA and NEAS Quality Endorsement

To reduce the burden of compliance for ELICOS providers, TEQSA and NEAS have identified areas where common evidence may be required for both TEQSA registration and accreditation processes and the NEAS Quality Endorsement process. Where evidence asked for is common to both processes, providers are able to submit documentation prepared for either organisation, noting that additional evidence may be required by TEQSA to address requirements of the ESOS Act and The National Code.

A full list of the documents that can be used for both TEQSA and NEAS purposes can be found here.

Providers should still confirm additional evidence requirements with their TEQSA Case Manager or NEAS Quality Assessor as appropriate before submission of their application.
