Alpine Activities Guidelines for coronavirus (COVID-19) | 22 June 2020 Alpine Activities Guidelines for coronavirus (COVID-19) - 22 June 2020 Dear stakeholder, Please see the information below regarding:
Coronavirus (COVID-19) testing station at Hotham From 21 June, a coronavirus (COVID-19) testing station will be located in the Corral Carpark at Mt Hotham, in the Mount Hotham Free Ski portable building. We encourage anyone who has symptoms, however mild, to get tested. Symptoms are fever, chills or sweats, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, runny nose, and loss of sense of smell. The test is free for everyone and takes around a minute and involves a swab from the back of your throat and nose. Please note – walk-ups will not be accepted. You must call the Hotham Medical Centre during opening hours (10am-5pm) to discuss your symptoms with the Centre’s nurse, who will assess your situation by phone, take your details, and refer you to the testing centre as required at an appropriate time. You need to bring at least one other form of identification – for example, your Medicare card, driver’s licence or student ID. You must then self-isolate immediately until you receive your test result. This might include returning to your out-of-season home, particularly if your on-mountain accommodation involves sharing sleeping space or facilities with others. If you are a business operator, this may also include providing staff who are normally housed in shared accommodation with alternate self-contained accommodation until test results are known. Hotham Medical Centre contact number: 03 5759 3551 Release of Alpine Activities Guidelines for coronavirus (COVID-19) The Victorian Government has released a guidance note for alpine resort operations to minimise the risk of COVID-19 transmission among visitors and staff, and effectively managing any outbreak of COVID-19 that may occur at the resorts. The guidance note has been developed in consultation with Victoria’s four Alpine Resort Management Boards, the Australian Ski Areas Association, Alpine Resorts Industry Advisory Group, Alpine Resorts Coordinating Council, the Department of Health and Human Services, the Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions, the Depart of Premier and Cabinet and the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning. It provides an over-arching policy framework and guidelines for specific resort activities to support the alpine sector to operate safely and address issues directly associated with coronavirus (COVID-19) over the 2020 snow season. The guidance note comprises: 1. Victorian Government policy guidance for alpine resorts setting out what is required of the alpine sector to operate safely 2. Industry guidelines for specific operations/activities:
Each alpine resort will use the contents of the guidance note to prepare detailed resort-specific COVID-19 operating plans to ensure safe operation. Mountain businesses are also encouraged to develop their own COVIDSafe Plan in accordance with these guidelines. Throughout the 2020 season as the COVID-19 situations change these guidelines will be updated to reflect the most current Chief Health Officer directions. To view the full document, click here. |
