PARENT NEWSLETTER ASVAB Testing Dear Parents and Guardians: Tomorrow (September 16) our 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students will take the ASVAB test, which is a "multiple aptitude battery test that predicts a student's future academic and occupational success." Most of us are familiar with this examination as a military entrance exam, as it has been used for many years to screen candidates for the U.S. military. The exam also places them in academic or career paths that suit their strengths. However, the ASVAB is the most widely used multiple-aptitude test battery in the world and can be applied to any post-secondary goal, whether that is at a university, in the military, vocational training or employment. The ASVAB Career Exploration Program was developed with input from a panel of career-development experts and designed to encourage students to increase their level of self-knowledge and to understand how that information could be linked to civilian and military occupational characteristics. We want cadets to gain insight into their own abilities and talents, and the ASVAB will give them useful guidance. ASVAB TEST AREAS
The cadets will then receive three career exploration scores, which will be part of their student profile here at MMA and will then allow us to begin to develop a customized high school and college placement plan.
