After hacks, leaders take different paths. Atsushi Katsuki, CEO of Asahi Group Holdings, says he is contemplating a zero-trust approach to cybersecurity after the Japanese beverage giant was hacked in September. Asahi has now stopped using VPNs and is considering reorganizing its cyber team, Katsuki told Bloomberg.

The ransomware attack on Asahi disrupted operations, which dented sales and delayed financial reporting.

Ireland’s national health service is offering data-breach victims €750, or about $880, each for damages from a 2021 ransomware attack that knocked out patient portals, disabled electronic medical records and delayed or canceled appointments for months. The offer was made to more than 600 people taking legal action against the health service. Nearly 100,000 patients and staff had their information exposed. (RTE)
