TO: Calvary Community Care Support Workers, Clinical Staff, and Case Managers
Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Maitland, Greater Sydney
DATE: 17 August 2021
FROM: Bryan McLoughlin, Regional CEO NSW | Angie Robinson, General Manager Community Care
The COVID-19 community transmission remains an increasing concern within NSW. Calvary is now requesting all staff wear eye protection when providing care to clients in their home. - The wearing of face masks remains mandatory during all services
- Eye protection must be worn in conjunction with face masks when providing services in the home
- Eye protection includes safety glasses, mask visor, goggles or a face shield
- Reusable eye
protection requires appropriate cleaning and disinfection between use
- Prescription glasses do not provide eye protection
- You MUST ensure that you ask the screening question on arrival for every client, every service, every time. Where a client answers yes you should leave the premise and, you MUST contact the office for further advice
- Until further notice all people receiving home care service in NSW are urged to wear a surgical mask during provision of home care service. Staff are to provide clients with a surgical mask if they do not have one.
- Non-essential services during this period are being reviewed and where appropriate are being placed on hold to minimise movement across the affected areas. We are currently contacting relevant clients and therefore it is important that you update your roster regularly in the mobility app. Please be assured that essential services will continue and every effort will be made to maintain individual’s requirements.
- A letter is available for clients explaining that the new requirement is in the interests of maximising their understanding, safety and wellbeing.
- Please ensure that you regularly review the case locations and exposure sites:
