The Commission invites you to attend this consultation and looks forward to hearing your ideas for future focus areas for your community. Community Advisory Council updateThe Commission is pleased to welcome seven new members to the Community Advisory Council. Appointed until November 2019, the new members reflect a wide range of expertise and experience including Aboriginal communities, human services, young people, peer work, and LGBTIQ+ people. Health literacy fundingThe Federal Government has announced the development of a Health Literacy Initiative, which aims to improve mental health literacy and outcomes for people with lived experience of mental health issues and caring. The funding is part of the Health Innovation Fund and has been provided for three years. Lifeline releases LGBTI+ reportLifeline partnered with La Trobe university to increase understanding around LGBTI+ peoples’ uptake of crisis support services. Member of the Commission's Community Advisory Council, Alan Woodward, was part of the reference group. Funding for eating disorder careThe Federal Government has announced funding of $9.6 million for InsideOut, and districts across NSW, to support health system reform for eating disorders. The funding will go directly to the improvement of services. Aboriginal healthcare newsTharawal Aboriginal Medical Service near Campbelltown has been praised for it's integrated services and Aboriginal-focused care that has started to close the gap in health.
