The ballot on the Draft International Standard (DIS) ISO/IEC 17011, setting the general requirements for accreditation bodies, opened on August 25 until November 17. In line with the ISO Directives, the ballot was preceded by a two-month period allocated for translations that started on June 22. The WG42 revising this International Standard will meet in February 2017 at the ISO Central Secretariat in Geneva to address the comments received on the DIS and move the document to the next development stage
The DIS ballot on ISO/IEC 17021-2, Competence requirements for auditing and certification of environmental management systems, closed in August. The draft was approved with a high level of consensus of ISO and IEC members. The JWG34 met on September 28 in Geneva to address the DIS comments and agreed on the publication of the International Standard in the forthcoming months.
Another competence document is undergoing revision in the JWG35 and has reached the DIS stage. The DIS ballot on ISO/IEC 17021-3, Competence requirements for auditing and certification of quality management systems, closes on October 10. The WG35 planned to meet from 23-24 November at the ISO Central Secretariat in Geneva to address the DIS comments (meeting to be confirmed after closure of the ballot).
PC 278 approached CASCO in 2015 to developed specific auditor competence requirements for ISO/DIS 37001, anti-bribery management systems. The JWG47 completed its work this Summer and ISO/IEC TS 17021-9, Competence requirements for auditing and certification of anti-bribery management systems, will be published on October 15.
The JWG48, established with PC283, is developing ISO/IEC TS 17021-10, Competence requirements for auditing and certification of occupational health and safety management systems. The JWG met in April and produced a Working Draft (WD) which was open for a WG consultation until July 27. The ballot results and the comments on the WD will be addressed by the JWG at its next meeting scheduled from 9-11 January 2017.
The vote on the Committee Draft 2 (CD) ISO/IEC 17025, setting the competence requirements for testing and calibration laboratories, closed on 24 May 2016 and the draft was approved with 96% of positive votes from CASCO members. The WG44 experts met in September to address the CD2 comments and agreed to move the document to the Draft International Standard (DIS) stage. The DIS ballot will open at the end of the year as it will be preceded by a two-month translation period. The WG44 will meet next year, during the week of July 10, in Geneva, to review the DIS comments.
WG45, developing ISO/IEC TR 17028, Example of a certification scheme for services, held its third meeting from 26-28 September in Shanghai and addressed the comments from the WG experts submitted during the working draft consultation. The WG decided to move the document to the Draft Technical Report (DTR) stage. The document will be balloted during 3 months and the experts will address the comments at the 4th meeting scheduled for 27-28 February 2017.
The Final Draft International Standard (FDIS) ballot on ISO/DIS 17034, which sets the requirements for the competence of reference material producers, closed in September and the document was approved by 100% of ISO Members. This International Standard will be published shortly, after the review of the comments collected during the FDIS ballot.
This revision of ISO 19011, Guidelines for auditing management systems, will be carried out under the PC302 lead and in a joint working group with CASCO. The revision will be launched early November, during the PC302 plenary week in Orlando.
The ballot on the NWIP to develop ISO/IEC 17029,
Conformity assessment – General requirements for bodies performing validation and verification activities, closed in August with a positive result. The document will be developed by the WG46, that did the initial research on the terms ‘verification’ and ‘validation’ in ISO standardisation. The work will be done under the convenorship of Dr. Stefanie Vehring and a call for experts has been launched until the end of October. Those interested in contributing to this work are encouraged to do so by contacting their national CASCO member. The first WG46 meeting will be held from 23-25 January 2017, at the ISO Central Secretariat in Geneva, Switzerland.
