In conversation with Andrew Haig
Andrew Haig is Department Chair of Communication Design and a Senior Lecturer at Swinburne University. He has been in the communication design industry for 39 years as an academic, a designer and as a design business owner. Andrew has worked in branding and identity design, publication design, exhibition and web design. Since completing his PhD in 2019 he’s been back at Swinburne’s School of Design and Architecture, where his design adventure began as an undergraduate student in the 1980s. He also taught at Swinburne in the 1990s where he completed his Master of Design (by Research). Andrew’s current role is in managing staff and
designing curriculum for communication design students – instead of a classroom teaching role (although he usually finds time to fit some of this in). Andrew is involved in the development of the big picture of where Swinburne Communication Design is headed.

BIG EARS | AUDIO PRODUCTION
Bunnings Warehouse Driving the Basics Opener
"The Bunnings 2022 Annual Conference was a resounding success, with over 10,000 employees descending on Rod Laver Arena. The event, which was held over three days, saw a range of speakers from across the company share their insights and expertise. Topics covered included everything from customer service and product knowledge to sales and marketing. The conference also provided an opportunity for employees to network with each other and build new relationships. It was clear from the buzz in the air that everyone left the conference feeling inspired and motivated. Thanks to the hard work of the organising committee, the Bunnings Annual Conference is already shaping up to be one of the highlights of the year. When Bunnings approached audio production house Big Ears Audio and animator Don Lim to create an opening animation for their
conference, they had a big vision. The animation was to be played across 3 x 20 metre screens, and they wanted it to be both exciting and engaging. The team worked hard to create an animation that would capture the attention of the conference attendees, and they are extremely proud of the final product.Big Ears Audio brought the conference's opening animation to life with a unique sound design and mix. The audio team worked closely with the animators to create a soundscape that would compliment the visuals and help set the tone for the conference. The final result was an immersive and exciting experience that set the stage for a successful event."

FLAVIA MAZDON | COPYWRITER
"After 16 years running my own freelance consultancy, the prospect of returning to full-time employment was daunting, to say the least, and after viewing countless job ads looking for ‘unicorns’, I considered my chances of returning to the agency fold as an ‘old-school’ creative, (where lived experience is actually considered an asset) pretty slim. Enter Sally, who not only took the time to listen and care about what I needed, she connected me with an incredible agency who ticked every single box on my wish list. Her positivity, understanding, experience and passion was a game-changer for me, and I’m now happily ensconced with the most brilliant tribe of people. Even better, it took Sally a mere 4 weeks to make this magic happen. My advice for potential job seekers? Don’t waste your time playing around with soul-destroying recruiters who woo you then ghost you. Sally is the real deal."
