Reflecting on 2015

Relay for Life

Once again in 2015 we participated in Relay for Life with our fab team of Chicks & supporters. We love this event as it a time to come together and spend some time socialising in a very relaxed setting while doing some great work for cancer research.  Our team managed to raise over $5000 and a lot of fun was had by all. We would like to say a huge thanks to FTG Motor Group for their very generous donation and to the Barry Plant Rowville team for pounding the track with your many laps. We love having corporate partners that are so involved in what we do xx

Our team will be participating again starting at 4pm on Saturday March 19th until 10am Sunday 20th at Knox Athletic Track. We would love to see you all there. Its a great experience the whole family can enjoy. Come for an hour or pitch a tent and stay the night. Online registrations have now closed but you can join on the day at the gate. If you can't make it but would like to donate to our team go to: www.relayforlife.org.au

St.Vincent Movie Night for Caroline

In February over 500 people attended this very special movie night for Caroline Nichols. It was the fastest selling event we have ever held and we were blown away by her support network. The movie was lovely and the night was a great success with over $28,000 going to Caroline. We send her our love & best wishes xx

Wig it for our Woman, Roz

Turns out there is a bogan in all of us......especially if it's for a great cause. In April our Bogan Bingo night was a huge success with over $34,000 raised.  Everyone got into the spirit of it while also generously donating to Roz Parry and her girls. Roz was overwhelmed by the night and the generosity, surrounded by nearly 400 friends and family. CFC was privileged to facilitate the night but it's success absolutely goes to a small group of Roz's amazing girlfriends Josy, Di, Kylie, Sheridan, Michelle and Kelly. Well done girls, simply amazing! Not only did the event lift Roz's spririts it enabled her to focus on her girls, her health and recovery. We are pleased to say Roz is doing amazingly well and on the road to full recovery.

Pitch Perfect 2 for Kath

Pitch Perfect 2 was the feature for our movie night for Kath Humphries in June. The cinema was a buzz with the excitement for this long awaited sequel and filled with so much love for Kath. We heard from her gorgeous kids, Amelia, Jacob and Paige who showed great maturity and poise in front of the huge crowd. We were so pleased to present her with a cheque for just over $20,000 from the night and over $25,000 in total.
Community spirit was alive and well for Kath and we were pleased to have the support of both the FTG Football Club and FTG Netball Club on board for this event.

The Intern Movie Night

'The Intern' was the movie we screened for our last event of the year and what a great movie it was! We joined forces with the Oli E Foundation to hold a movie night for a very special family.  The Foley family have three kids, two of which have a degenerative condition, Spinal Muscular Atrophy. Caydn 17 and Keelin 16 require 24 hour care and have been reliant on electric wheelchairs from 18 months old. Funds from this movie night went towards spending money for the whole family on their  dream holiday in the USA. They visited Disneyland, San Francisco, Las Vegas and more! It was amazing following their Facebook updates! We are so glad they enjoyed it and made many special family memories. A huge thanks to the The Foleys fabulous support network for your tireless work xx

Winners are Grinners!

Thanks to everyone that took the time to vote for us in the Leader Local Grants Competition. We were fortunate enough to win a grant of $1,000 to fit out our new storage facility kindly donated by FTG Motor Group. So far we have bought some much needed shelving and tubs and we are looking very organised.

Also keep an eye out late 2016 early 2017 for our Fundraising Resource Kits. We were lucky this year to receive grant funding through Knox City Councils Community Development fund and we are hoping to share the love. Watch this space....

Sharing the Load

During the year we hear of many of our supporters out there doing some wonderful things to assist us in our fundraising. We cannot express how excited we get when we know that our little idea is beginning to grow. Be thankful, give back, that's what it's all about.

To all of you that have donated, quilted, held lunches & afternoon teas, made lemonade & cupcake stands, done fun and not so fun runs and bloody long walks, we think you are all so amazing! Your efforts are always so appreciated xx

Special mention to Specsavers Southland who are continuously raising funds for CFC at their stores. It is a great pleasure to have them assisting us xx

Aston Community Award

What an experience it was to be amongst some of the most admirable and charitable members of our community at the Aston Community Awards. To win the overall Group Achievement award was totally surreal. It is such an incredible honour and gift to be a part of this crazy journey with 12 beautiful friends and we are so humbled that someone took the time to vote for us. Thank you Ferntree Gully Football Club!  Also a big thanks to the Honourable Alan Tudge MP for his ongoing support.

Cancer Council

So exciting! Our 2015 Relay for Life team raised over $5000 so they have named a research award in our honour and awarded it to two researchers at The University of Melbourne who are undertaking research into the treatment of Melanoma cancer. Thank you Ferntree Gully Motor Group for making this possible with your huge donation and to our awesome team that walked for hours alongside us.

Ritchies Card

Next time you are near Ritchies IGA please ask for a Community Benefits card and nominate Chicks for Charity as your chosen community group. Every time you shop and swipe your card a percentage of your purchase total will be paid to us. Its a really easy way to assist us

Ferntree Gully Football Club

In 2015 we were honoured to be made the No. 1 ticket holders for the Ferntree Gully Eagles Football Club. We have a great association with the club and they are always looking for ways to support us.

Behind the Scenes

Throughout the year we donate to many other individuals, groups and families in need of assistance.  We attended Go Big For The Kids Trivia Night in honour of three beautiful kids, Ayva, Jorja and Cooper. It was a fabulous night attended by over 500 people. We were so pleased to co-present a cheque to the families for $7500 with our lovely Corporate Partners FTG Motor Group. We also arranged cleaners, fresh fruit & veg deliveries and donated funds to many others battling illness or dealing with excessive medical costs. We did our grocery drop to the Harrison Group just prior to Christmas.  We were also proud to join with the FTG Motor Group in their' FTG Kris Kringle' initiative where  local families facing financial hardship were allocated to customers who wanted to spread some Christmas joy. Present drops were set up at various locations and then shipped to the Harrison Group for distribution.

Our Besties xx

Everyday we are so grateful to these local businesses that work so hard to be the best in their fields but still find time to be truly amazing to us. We are always so thankful that they have our backs.

If you are looking to purchase a car or a home please consider talking to them first and experience why they have won so many awards.

A huge thanks also to our friends at Ultimate Business Systems and Emerging IT who continue to support us month after month. We couldn't do what we do without these lovely companies in our lives xx

Someone's Story

Someone's Story is proud to have raised and donated over $3200 to Chicks for Charity since its unveiling in August 2013. Whether you buy or donate books or take the time to tidy the shelf, Someone's Story is an easy way to get involved and make a difference. There are currently two donated shelves looking to set up their own chapters so if you know of a business that would be perfect for a shelf Peta would love to hear from you. She can be contacted on 0418 685 645.

In Memory

We would like to acknowledge the passing of a lovely lady named Kerryn Swain who lost her long battle with breast cancer. Thank you to her family who had donations at the funeral passed on to Chicks for Charity. It was our absolute pleasure to meet and assist her.
