Join Us at Strathfield Christmas Carols!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! We’re excited to host Strathfield Christmas Carols at the official opening of Bressington Park. The recent renovation includes a fresh design, new playing fields, cricket nets and new amenities block. Join us for a family fun day and celebrate the festive season with a picnic, free children’s activities, carols, a visit from Santa Claus, a special Movies in the Park screening of Elf and a beautiful fireworks display!

When: Saturday 8 December from 2pm, carols commence at 6pm
Where: Bressington Park, Underwood Rd, Homebush

Safer Streets

The streets of Homebush West will increase in safety with the granting of $30,000 to Strathfield Council from the Office of the Attorney General NSW. The grant will see the installation of 5 light poles on Courallie Avenue, Homebush West, a popular area with train commuters.

Wallis Reserve Beautifully Restored

Works to restore Wallis Reserve Garden back to its beautiful original state have been completed. The new and fresh look includes installation of 150 roses, repairing irrigation and reinstating the sundial and pergola. Come and enjoy the new outdoor garden!

 

Share the Dignity This Christmas

Show support for women and girls experiencing homelessness, domestic violence and poverty by taking part in It’s in the Bag. Pack a handbag filled with feminine personal care and hygiene products to show that she matters. Bags can be dropped off at Strathfield Council Customer Service from 16 November to 3 December 2018.

Hudson Reserve Regenerated

Strathfield Council recently transformed Hudson Reserve into a new vegetation site using native plants such as wheat grass and climbing saltbush. Visitors to the new site include lizard species like the above Wood Gecko, crawling through the understory. The Hudson Reserve is closely linked to the Rare and Endangered Bushland along the Rail Corridor.

 

Citizen of the Year Awards

Have you thought about your Citizen of the Year nomination? As part of Australia Day, Strathfield Council is seeking nominations for people who contribute their time and service to the community. Nominations are open until 11 January 2019.

Frog Identification Week:
9-18 November

It’s time to get hopping and record those frogs you find in your backyard! Frogs are great for pest control as they hunt cockroaches, flies, snails, slugs, mosquitoes and moths. They are sensitive to pollution and environmental change, so its important we take care of them. Remember, frogs are a native animal and are protected by law.

The Strathfield Presbyterian Church pictured in the photograph was built in 1921 at 90 Homebush Road, Strathfield. The site is now occupied by the West Sydney Chinese Christian Church.

Feed a Farmer for Christmas

The stallholders of Sydney Markets are hosting “Feed a Farmer for Christmas” featuring Cowboy Cha Cha Line Dancing, Rodeo Rides, farmyard animals, giveaways and more. The CWA will be on site also, selling strawberry jam in support of strawberry farmers. Come along for some fun and bring non-perishable food to donate to farmers in need.

Join the Women's Electoral Lobby for free voter education sessions for women! Their Election Table Talks aim to empower women to become informed about political, economic and legal issues by providing voter education to women and raising awareness on how women can build relationships with their local MP.
