The Hindu Council of Australia invites you to the Strathfield Deepavali Festival! When: Sunday 18 November, 11am-4pm Safer StreetsThe streets of Homebush West will increase in safety with the granting of $30,000 to Strathfield Council from the Office of the Attorney General NSW. The grant will see the installation of 5 light poles on Courallie Avenue, Homebush West, a popular area with train commuters. Wallis Reserve Beautifully Restored Works to restore Wallis Reserve Garden back to its beautiful original state have been completed. The new and fresh look includes installation of 150 roses, repairing irrigation and reinstating the sundial and pergola. Come and enjoy the new outdoor garden! Share the Dignity This Christmas Show support for women and girls experiencing homelessness, domestic violence and poverty by taking part in It’s in the Bag. Pack a handbag filled with feminine personal care and hygiene products to show that she matters. Bags can be dropped off at Strathfield Council Customer Service from 16 November to 3 December 2018.
Hudson Reserve Regenerated Strathfield Council recently transformed Hudson Reserve into a new vegetation site using native plants such as wheat grass and climbing saltbush. Visitors to the new site include lizard species like the above Wood Gecko, crawling through the understory. The Hudson Reserve is closely linked to the Rare and Endangered Bushland along the Rail Corridor. Citizen of the Year AwardsHave you thought about your Citizen of the Year nomination? As part of Australia Day, Strathfield Council is seeking nominations for people who contribute their time and service to the community. Nominations are open until 11 January 2019. Frog Identification Week: It’s time to get hopping and record those frogs you find in your backyard! Frogs are great for pest control as they hunt cockroaches, flies, snails, slugs, mosquitoes and moths. They are sensitive to pollution and environmental change, so its important we take care of them. Remember, frogs are a native animal and are protected by law.
