No Images? Click here This month we celebrate Bright's connection with artists from all over the world, showcasing artwork infused with culture, inspired by mindful travel and the stories found in global landscapes. From the hipster town of Boulder, Colorado, Brizida Margo brings us illustrations inspired by the fresh air, mountains and artisan coffee, whilst in Rhiannon Parnis' nostalgic landscapes, hidden narratives can be found in the reflections and play on light. Meanwhile, Susanne Washington takes us on a tea-tasting journey to China and tells us about her "Foo dog”. Enjoy - and please don't hesitate to reach out - I am always happy to chat! BRIZIDA MARGO Brizida Margo creates illustrations that are colourful, naive and quirky, inspired by the great outdoors of Colorado. Cat lovers are in for a real treat - and, yes, these felines are looking for a new home! Rhiannon Parnis' illustrations are atmospheric and mysterious. Her artwork allures through its pared back palettes and the depth of detail in her emotive landscapes, and is inspired by her Cardiff surroundings. Suzanne: “This image was inspired by a strong desire to paint the blue 'Foo' dog. This has been in our house for a few years and never found his place until now - he serves a as protector or guardian of the house." "I want to remind us of the delight a simple, relaxing cup of freshly boiled Jasmine tea can bring and the importance of celebrating a daily small pleasure, which can transport us to a place of calm and security in the same way as taking a tea ceremony in a Chinese tea garden can. Herbal tea comes from a natural source and brings profound feelings of joy and grounding, helping us to be at one with our natural surroundings." Nuno Ramalhão was born in the small island of S. Miguel in Açores, Portugal and went on to work in Mumbai for two years. His work is characterised by the attention to composition and detail as well as a strong sense of colour. STELLA ISAAC Stella Isaac's love for travel has led her to creating numerous maps for clients such as Lonely Planet magazine and Discover Britain. Her illustrations are bright and playful, influenced by travel, pop art, music, and interesting objects. DANIELLE RHODA Danielle Rhoda, originally from Wroclaw, Poland, and partly raised in Nottingham, calls herself a maker and a flaneur; wandering around unknown places, getting lost and observing stories around her. Georgie McAusland is a British illustrator based in Barcelona and London. Drawing inspiration from historical events and exploring her surroundings, she enjoys playing around with perspective and scale, reimagining macabre or unusual objects and situations. Having spent seven years as the Creative Director of HarperCollins Australia, Helen art directed and inspired talented artists, illustrators, graphic designers and photographers, working across various genres. Many of these books won Design Awards at The Australian Publishers Association. Helen loves colour and all things art and design and has spent much of her time visiting galleries all over the world.
