As we prepare to celebrate Christmas next week, we recount the many blessings that our community enjoyed in 2017. Here are just a few of the highlights… The year began with a celebration of Catholic Schools Week and our EC faculty defending the plan for the 2017 EC Winter Games. Our students Marched for Life. We wrapped up our celebration of 25 Years of Excellence at our Annual Gala. The EC Drama club shared a spectacular performance of Godspell in the spring…
and Flowers for Algernon in the fall. Our students once again demonstrated that we are a School of Excellence. We successfully launched our Mini-Mountaineer Program... our international students continue to enrich our middle school with a cultural interchange… and we sent off another class of outstanding graduates. The Class of 2017 accumulated a total of 3,311 service hours over their four years of high school. They achieved an average ACT score of 26.6 and earned an average of $162,341 in scholarship money. Our dads came together and formed the Everest Men’s Club. We expanded our athletic programs through the addition of our middle school and high school track teams... and our football partnership with St. Joseph Lake Orion. Our athletes won again… and again… and were honored for their achievements with our high school athletes earning 11 all league awards, 3 all academic awards, and 9 all catholic awards in the fall season alone, including First Team All State Athlete, Grant Burgess. Our EC football team even played in the Prep Bowl at Ford Field for the first time… with all of these achievements made under the leadership of some phenomenal coaches including Michael Pruchnicki, the 2017 Associated Press Division 7-8 Coach of the Year... and Dave Smith, the Golf Association Division IV Coach of the Year. Some exceptional new faculty & staff joined our ranks… who support our students, who in turn strive to help those around them through apostolic action. 2017 is a year not likely to be forgotten with a historic solar eclipse on EC’s first day of school... a visit from the US Marine Corps silent drill team... a building transition creating dedicated academy and high school buildings... and the addition of a high school E-Hour for more elective opportunities for our high schoolers... and our academy students. We acquired electrophoresis equipment for the science lab through the support of the Clarkston Optimist Club... and added weekly academy Masses on Fridays... We added two Gaga pits... an impressive new baseball back stop... and decked out our bus in its own spirit wear... and our new signs on Clarkston road tell it best, we are proud of our achievements and our excellent students, faculty, and staff who make those achievements possible. We are grateful to God for his many blessings this year and the generous support and engagement of our community that provides the Everest Experience. On behalf of the entire faculty and staff, best wishes to you and your family this Christmas. We are looking forward to another year of excellence in 2018! |
