A Metre MattersThe Minimum Passing Distance Rule will be made permanent to improve the safety of both cyclists and drivers on the road. Drivers who pass a bicycle rider must allow a distance of at least 1 metre when the speed is 60 km/h or less, and 1.5 metres when the speed limit is more than 60km/h. Amendment of Part J of the SCDCP on ExhibitionCouncil resolved to make amendments to Part J - Erection and Display of Advertising Signs and Structures of the Strathfield Consolidated Development Control Plan 2005. Draft exhibition materials are on display until Friday 15 June 2018 at Council’s Customer Service Centre, the Libraries and on the Council website in the public notice section. Cleaner Public SpacesStrathfield Council together with City of Canterbury Bankstown have secured $200,000 in NSW EPA litter grants focused on cleaning up the Lakemba and Strathfield South industrial areas bordering the Coxs Creek! Council looks forward to working with the Cooks River Alliance to create cleaner public spaces. Consul General of China Visits StrathfieldCouncil was delighted to welcome the Chinese Consul General Gu Xiaojie, Consul Wang Fanfu and Consul Li Zhi on Wednesday 16 May. The delegates joined Council representatives for Morning Tea and a brief tour of Council Chambers. Upgrading GreenspacesChain of Ponds Reserve is the latest greenspace currently having an upgrade including new playground, shelter, seats, landscaping and maintenance of footpaths! The upgrade is scheduled to be completed by the end of May. Throwback ThursdayBellevue - Victoria St, StrathfieldBellevue is an example of the country style estates Strathfield was well known for. Bellevue was built in 1914 and features extensive front gardens, providing ample space for entertainment.
