WHO DO YOU WEAR IT FOR?Most New Zealanders have been touched by cancer. If not personally, a relative friend or acquaintance will have been affected, because it is New Zealand's biggest killer. Ministry of Health data found the disease accounted for nearly one third of all deaths recorded in 2015. Of the 31,796 deaths that year, cancer accounted for 9,615 of those. The disease disproportionately kills men and
Māori. The Cancer Society of New Zealand is an independent charity and 100% community funded. Its unique combination of local programme delivery, community engagement and national influence enables everyone who cares about cancer to make the biggest possible difference. find out more about Daffodil day on the Kapiti Coast
Exercise increases life expectancy - studyChristchurch - Latest academic research studies have found that exercise increases life expectancy regardless of the size of people, proving exercise is critical to longevity, ExerciseNZ chief executive Richard Beddie says. A British Medical Journal report says brisk walking increased life expectancy on all of those that took part in the study, regardless of their body mass index (BMI), which is often used as an indicator for people’s health, Beddie says. He has just returned from India helping that country set up a registration system for exercise professionals. He heads to Lebanon this week where he will be presenting at an international conference about global exercise trends.
